I'm thinking of a couple... one for the space-themed quilt that was talked about last year in the ideas-thread. And one that's dogs. Just dogs. Lots of different dogs and perhaps some doggie-related material (ie pawprints or bones-that-dogs-chew-on). If you or someone you know would be interested, please post here or PM me. If there's enough interest, I'd like to put things in motion! :)

Definately on the dogs! Not sure about space.
I was hoping someone would start another swap. In about a month, I want to post a spring swap. (Round out my four seasons of swaps - lol!)
Whatever happened to the "love" swap?

a definite yes on space, a maybe on dogs. Well, I should probably say a yes on dogs, and I can make a space one for Erik, a dog one for Anders (who loves dogs)--provided I actually make something and don't just collect ;)

What, we're supposed to make something with these squares? I thought I could just take them out and look at them once in a while. I'm opting for collecting right now and maybe some day they will be made into something!

It's always fun to look at all the different squares! :) I came across my mother's squares recently which she cut to make a cathedral quilt... she started piecing it, and finished 2 rows... all the stitching is by hand! I look at it and all the pieces still yet to be incorporated, and wonder whether I could have the patience to finish it...

I've been collecting for a couple of years or more - it is fun to just take them out, look them over, count them, and then put them back nicely. (Just like we'd like our children to use their toys.) lol!

Margaret - what's a cathedral quilt?

A cathedral quilt looks like this: Projects & Patterns: Cathedral Window Quilt by Debby Kratovil (http://www.quiltmag.com/proj-tips-cathedral.php) My mom used an old blue sheet for the "background" fabric (and there's still lots of the sheet left that she hadn't cut into yet), and all kinds of small (about 2") squares from different fabrics that I recognize from old dresses etc. I read somewhere online that it took one woman about 1 hour per square to make. Yikes! I don't know if it took my mother that long, but it was probably something she brought along with her to do when waiting for children... at the pool perhaps? I'm pretty sure at school concerts she always brought her knitting - she could knit or crochet in the dark.
