when I checked my kitchen, I forgot the tea kettle, garlic press and slotted spoon in my list.

As things to grab if there's a tornado? I'll be grabbing the coffee pot. lol.

I love my garlic press, but I'm not sure if I love it that much. I agree, grabbing the coffee would be a much nicer idea.

I made a list the other day of the items in my kitchen. But, I forgot a few.

Oh, I missed the list! Where's the thread?

I have a lot. LOL. I am not a minimalist in the kitchen, neither is Matt. I love my dishwasher to pieces, too. I go to my friend's house and she has the hand egg beater, washes by hand, has no internet or tv at all (we just have the antenna the prev owners left and the tv they left too so we get like 2 channels) and no microwave or anything like that.

We have a micro though it's used only once or twice a week (and that was dh's idea, I really don't *need* a micro), a Vitamix, now, a sterilizer for Jake's nebulizer, a French press for coffee, a tea kettle, a whole ceramic crock full of tools, a Kitchenaid mixer (I had a handheld electric Kitchenaid mixer before we were gifted a used stand mixer), a coffee grinder, a 2 slice toaster that's used once or twice a week, and a knife block with a bunch of nice Henckels knives (my bday present to Matt last year, we were using one awfully dull 8" chef's knife for everything).

Not to mention a drawer full of more tools...potato masher, whisk, spoons, spatula or two (we use them a lot), slotted spoon, chinese wire spoon, ummm....? Bamboo mat for rolling sushi...Random stuff. A citrus zester, a garlic press, .... more. LOL. Too much to itemize! But not an overwhelming amount. I used to have a hard time opening my utensils drawer. I've pared down. It's just perfect now.

Oh, ok. lol.

I just finished a huge declutter in the kitchen. I am pleased to report that I am a bit of a minimalist there. While I won't be giving away the kitchen-aid I also realized that I don't really use it that much.

I will still make cookie dough in a big bowl with a wooden spoon, instead of pulling out the mixer. Isn't that strange? Dh just rolls his eyes.

The little chopper (and several full boxes of other stuff) went in the garage sale stack tho. I really like hand chopping so out it went.

my work horses:
2 cast iron pans
1 roaster
1 sauce pan
2 knives, 1 chef 1 paring
cutting board
whisk
bamboo spoon...flat edged works as a spatula too.
toaster
coffee pot
cookie baking sheet.
Large, huge in fact, stoneware bowl.

Everything else (except eating ware) is pure fluff...and mostly gone now.

I *just* went through the Kitchen this morning on a decluttering spree.

Oh, I missed the list! Where's the thread?

I fall somewhere in between:

No:
Microwave
Dishwasher
Kitchen-Aid
No electric egg-beater thing (at one point we had two and I NEVER- not once- used them.)
No coffee pot or press or anything (I can't have coffee :vent: )

Have:
Two bags of organic fair trade coffee beans to make in my non-existant coffee maker  I guess these should find a new home. (Katie? LOL)
Le Creuset kettle that I love
two L.C. skillets (med & lg)
4 L.C. pots that vary from 1.5-7 (?) qts (Yes, they all do have a purpose)
toaster that's on it's way out the door soon
mis-matched real silverware that I've been collecting for a few years
VitaMix
Wooden spoons, etc. from DH
Glass storageware & ovenware
