Yes, SIX months ago I bought a Brother 1034D from Amazon. I tried it once but was intimidated. The thought of changing all that thread made me stay far away from it. Today I am looking at my machine while I look at the instructional DVDs on my computer. I will learn how to use this dust catcher!! Anyone else want to let me know how their serger work is going, especially any one who is also a newbie??

I bought the same one a year ago. LOVE IT! was able to whip up the 7 dwarfs in no time for a school play last year, and it makes pajama pants in no time. Just watch the dvd, follow the directions and you will be fine.
I promise.

Mine is on the way (same model) and might be here today! I can't wait to learn along with other newbies!

You can do it! I bought my brother around the same time and boy I am glad I did. It saves so much time for me. At first it took a little bit getting the threading down, but now I can do it under five minutes. It just takes some practice.

Hi,
I have had my serger for a year now, and I do use it regularly. I do not have a dvd and I have not taken classes. Don't be scared, just use it! I managed to break the prethreaded thread the first day that I got it, so I had to get over myself and follow the book's directions to rethread, and now I love it,and use it most days.

BTW after a year, I still have to have the book in front of me to rethread LOL

I have the same serger...just got it a couple weeks ago.

I, like someone else mentioned, broke the pre-threaded thread the first day and had to get over my fear and just do it.
It really wasn't too hard. I've had more trouble with some sewing machines.

It was funny when I first opened up everything, I couldn't figure out what the tweezers were for....then I tried to rethread it. LOL....I use the tweezers a lot!
