Okay, my almost 4 y/o is constantly wanting me to play with him. I'm sorry, but I really don't play superheros well . So, I try to include him in as much of what I'm doing as possible, but sometimes, it just doesn't work. Don't get me wrong, I DO play with him for short periods of time, but 5 min. after I'm done he wants me to play MORE. And he'll kept persisting until I give in:wah:.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who doesn't "like" playing superheros, lol.

I'm there with you. I have a 3 1/2 yo girl. She is always wanting me to play hide-n-seek, sing songs, read books, do ballet-you name it. I also have a 1 year old boy that I have to play with. I put in educational videos to help entertain her, give her board games she can play on her own and best of all I put her in a moms day out 3x week from 9-1 so she gets interaction with other kids, I get my time and she gets her kiddie time.

I'm with you. Dh is the imagination guy. He can play spiderman, Pirates (see sig lol), Pooh bear etc for like a half hour or more without getting bored, or boring the kids. I'm NOT the imagination parent at all. I have a 3.5yo boy and a 6.5yo girl (and yes, he plays barbies with her sometimes too. or shrek lol).
I'm the one who does puzzles, books, baking, board games, playdough, the park, the movies, the library, playgroup, etc - he does the imagination play. I just can't do it.

i don't play at all. i will sit in the floor and work on krafts or read while the children play, but i don't play dressup, little people, tea party, princesses, superheroes or anything. the closest i get to "playing" is swinging on one swing while the kids swing on another.

I have a very hard time staying focued in pretend play. You are not alone at all. I try to do art projects, encourage them to help me prepare food, help me 'clean' the house anything but sitting and playing 'guys!'

I am so thankful for my DH, who loves playing pretend games with the boys. They don't do a lot of superheros, but they do Bible stories, they are dinosaurs, sometimes bears, etc etc. One day I mentioned to him how I just don't get into it, and so he makes sure to play pretend play for a good portion of his playtime with them each day. If they ask me, I normally tell them to wait for dad ;) He plays with them most days for at least an hour, so it works well.

I'm like Barb--I like board games, card games, puzzles, books, cooking together, art projects, etc.

I know its hard. Mine went through a phase when Grandpa brought home his old army toys. Sooo boring to sit there and do a little war, which felt neverending. But I just tried to suck it up when I felt I should... get down there and make it as fun as I possibly could for as long as I could stand it. I would find some faction of the game I could actually get somehwhat interested in. Ie - Instead of battling I build a little fence for the battalion, which kept my interest for a few moments. They knew sometimes I had other things to do, and that's the beauty of having siblings. But we've moved on now and hardly ever play with those right now. Thanks to spring/summer toys. Got this Elephun thing that is a beauty because they can entirely work it themselves. I love it. Maybe just find some other stuff he can occupy himself with more easily? Good luck!
