The house we are renting has 2 huge hydrangia's (sp) by the front door, and cute little rows of hosta's all around the house. They are lush and bushy, but also very neat around the sidewalks all summer. Now, they are all brown and icky and just a big ol mess. Do I need to prune them back and get rid of all the dead stuff, or do I just leave them be through the winter? The hydranga's have to be pruned back a couple times during the summer, just b/c they get so big. I've never had either of these plants, so I don't know how to care for them over the winter. My roses always did so much better come spring if I had pruned them in the fall.
