They can be used to hold your keys and loose change, or to hold potpourri, wrapped candy, pretty stones, buttons, or any collection of small items.
Doing the satin stitch around the corners is tricky - I don't have a good method for doing that yet.

Beautiful. I really love the first one
Is that brocade in the second picture? How was that to work with? I almost bought a small fq set of those at JA the other day, but I was scared to try them.

Yes, that's brocade in the second one. It was a bear to work with, honestly. I thought I'd use the iron-on dritz interfacing with it, rather than the 505 spray, because I thought that would stick better. It really didn't. So I ended up basting the pieces to the interfacing. And brocade's edges fray like crazy once they're cut, so I had to be super careful with that, too. I might make a few more with brocade, but it's not my favorite material to work with! Maybe I got an inferior type of brocade?? I don't know - it looks pretty, anyway, and feels nice enough. I'm thinking I might try wunderunder instead, but I'm not convinced it would work any better - might try it on some scraps first...
I'm wondering about the FQs you saw of brocade at Joann's - I don't recall seeing them at "mine" - how did they keep them from fraying, I wonder? Were you planning on using them in a special quilt, or as an applique?

those are so great!!! theres someone who goes to saturday market that makes those but yours look nicer. i like you fabric choices! i have that same fabric in the middle of the first one, too.
you say you don't have a good technique to going around the corners but it sure looks like you do!
you have inspired me to make a bowl or 2.

I didn't see this until now--sorry for the delay in replying :)
I didn't buy the FQ's because I was worried that I would get frustrated by the slippery fabric. I *think* they were brocades...they were silky, though, that's for sure. They were all bundled up in a set, so I couldn't see the edges. They were near the calicos at "my" Joann's (Tyngsboro). They always have cute little FQ sets. I wanted to use them for fabric bowls too.
