Well, I got all the unbilled invoices in the mail yesterday. I did not count. Today I had a friend who does billing come over to show me how to do it. She here no more than 45 minutes and some of it was spent gossiping about our former employer. Jonathan was screaming the whole time and I did not take a single note.

After Jonathan went down for the evening, I got to work doing the billing. Much of it is online and you can instantly see whether your claim was filled out correctly, accepted, and how much will be paid (sweet), so I know that I was doing everything correctly.

Not counting the dozen or so invoices which are so old that they will be denied due to being past 90 days (grrrr. . . . ), I figured that had she done this herself, she would be earning an average of $75/hr which is way better than the salary I pay myself (waaaaay better). She's 21, makes about $10/hr, and she passed up the opportunity to essentially make about $75/hr (she gets 5% of collected and once things were running smoothing, she was to get bumped up to 7% which is industry standard around here).

Stupid, stupid girl.

But, good news is that I will be able to pay myself a salary in November and December and now I know how it is done so I know that the money will start coming in regularly. I think I'll be able to keep my business.

Congrats on getting it done. Gee, I'm wondering if I should look into a billing side job.

shoot, you and me both. I have a couple of colleagues that are frustrated with the person doing their medical billing and I'm thinking that since it's earning more than I actually make, maybe I should take that one  but not really joking. I'm thinking that if they offer, I might take it. $75/hr is nice!

I'm feeling MUCH better. I know I'll get a check in less than 10 days and I know it'll be enough to pay my salary for November. and, now I can crank them out as I'm writing each note. Easy as pie. Actually, I'm glad this happened because I have no idea why I ever needed her in the first place!

no one.

We aren't going out right now. Really, I'm not going to worry about it at this point in time.

That's awesome Rebecca (don't forget to pay yourself for the time you spend billing, there is no reason why you should not earn her salary) I am so happy you got it all worked out!!

you know, I was totally thinking about that! Wouldn't that be great if I paid myself MORE for doing bililng than I pay myself for doing shrink work? I love it! Nice little bonus every month or so.

That's so great that you figured it all out. I do billing for my gf's, dh's business. I keep telling him that if he spent just a little time each week on it he wouldn't need me, but he dosen't LOL.
