Cool! Glad to see some interest.
Question for you all - what do you think of poinsettias? Someone asked me, and I thought I'd throw it out here. Are they too Christmasy or wintery? I'm not sure. Opinions?

Dannielle
10-17-2006, 07:46 AM
they seem Christmassy to me because of the whole red/green thing. Winter seems to be more of a blue/white color palette, imo.

Can I jump in on this one? I've had a hankerin' to make some quilts lately :)

I was the one who asked about the pointsettas, and they were not red and green, They are shades of red and pinks actually.

honestly, when I think of blue and white around winter, that makes me think of hanukkah.

No worries, I'll skip the pointsettas and find something else.

Do poinsettia's bloom in the winter? I know they are a warm weather plant.

I honestly won't mind poinsettia's or holly.

Allison - do you have a previous username? You only show 15 posts.

Maidenmyhome - your pm's are full - here's my reply to your info pm: :)
Amber,
You have 101 posts right now. :D
Doubles were both that two people sent the same fabric and that there were 25 people sending 30 squares, so you got one from each set and then 5 various to round out the 30.
My paypal is eastham@frontiernet.net - $1.70 is correct. Funny, it was cheaper to ship to Canada than US priority. Glad they made it safely.
I'll put you in for three winter spots.
Thanks for joining again! :)

Go post on some forums :) You need 100 posts to do a swap, so get chatting before it closes. :D :smooch: And, welcome!! :waving:

Okay - put me down for umm how about 2? I may add more if I find a lot of fabric I love - but 2 for now is good.

Hi Allison :D

Welcome to the forum :)

Like ChasingChe mentioned, we require 100 posts and membership of 6 months before joining in any swaps. I see that you joined in August of this year, so you're halfway to the 6 month requirement! :D You can reach the 100 post minimum easily, just chat away, I speak from experience ;) it doesn't take too long to post 100 times!

A great way to start is to post an introduction in the sewing main forum, you may even get some questions from other members and that'll give you more opportunity to chat ;)

Once again, welcome. I hope that the guidelines do not deter you from joining future swaps once you have that 100 posts and 6 months :D

This is why I hate having to do 'guidelines' or rules...because it ends up singling people out that would genuinely be great swappers...but with the recent mix ups, troubles, etc. I really have to enforce some kind of 'rules' at this point :( I really feel badly mama, because I am sure you would be a great participant in the swaps, but at the same time, in the past, bending the rules has caused trouble. I hope you understand and it doesn't prevent your from being in future swaps, or make you upset with me :( I know it sucks...but a line has to be drawn for consistency :/. I'm sorry sweetie.

I bought my fabrics today - one is a batik with white snowflakes that are actually batiked (is that a word?) on the blue fabric and another is a snowflake print (gold or silver - something shimmery) on top of a hand-dyed looking background of blue and green.

You'll have to trust me - they're pretty :)

I have my fabrics ready to go. I can ship as soon as I get an addy... I'm sure that you have already given it to me before, but I usually erase them for privacy reasons.

Can you PM it to me again?

Thanks,

No, that's ok. I'll give up one of mine. I do have one fabric already and can't seem to find the "right" second fabric, so it works out just fine.

I just finished cutting my fabric, addressing the envelopes now.

The blade on my cutter wasn't very sharp (adding them to my list), so I apologize in advance for edges that aren't 100%. Thank goodness for S/A. LOL.

They will be dropped into the mail tomorrow.

Mine are going to be Christmas stockings. :D

How are you going to make them?

copmom
12-12-2006, 11:12 PM
I'm hoping to do something like a crazy quilt on a muslin backing. I bought some solids (each of our favorite colors) and took them to a friend with an embroidery machine. When she has our names done, I'm going to build the patchwork around them. :)
I googled Christmas stocking pattern and found an example - I'll have to find it again and post it.
