LOL..if you look closely in the background, that is my main city shopping area...I had no clue who those guys with the signs were, but that mall strip is CRAWLING with panhandlers, scammers, street performers, salesmen, and just plain WIERDOS, so I used to dodge and run like crazy if they came near me, lol! I did NOT want to get caught by them! :lol: My SIL never saw them, but she totally agreed with me that running is a sane person's response to being approached there! :hahaha:

Now, of course, I wished I hadn't been quite so obvious in my avoiding, but I don't regret not getting hugged...I am sooo not touchy-feely, and random stranger hugs, well, just are NOT up my alley!! :hahaha:

And it's a beautiful idea. Good for them.
