my very first project
first knitting project...I did this months ago and couldn't figure out the i-cord, so I just finished it last night and felted today

the sophie bag

pre-felting

I actually had a lady ask me in walmart if she could pay me to make her one!

ok-this was my first soaker...second real project that isn't just dishcloths! LOL it is straight! LOL it is just wonky laying in the picture

hand spun, kettle dyed yarn that is so soft!!! curly purly soaker with k2p2 cuffs

now my question....the k2p2 cuff seems to be too tight for her thighs. is there another cuff that looks like this one that would be more stretchy?? or is it just the binding off that makes it so much tighter? or is that even a possibility? LOL

oh that bag is loverly! i can't figure out i-cord yet either. what yarn is it? i absolutely LOVE the colors.

i need to kidnap meg before she moves...no clue on the soaker question. i also need to find out how to do short rows in order to do soakers (not that i have a need for them but they can be lucrative and are lovely gifts...)

the yarn in the bag is noro kureyon 185.

the i-cord was actually SOOO easy! I even did mine on my circular needles.

the soaker made me use DPN's and that scared me at first! but it turned out really easy! LOL

dpn's are that bad, once you get the idea. they look like a torture device but look worse than they are, that's for sure.

i learned on aunt purl's hat recipe: CrazyAuntPurl: Easy Roll-Brim Knit Hat Recipe (http://www.crazyauntpurl.com/archives/2005/06/easy_rollbrim_k_1.php)

taking note of the yarn in the bag...how many skeins/balls?

it takes 2 skeins of the noro....you need 220 yards

here are the instructions www.magknits.com (http://www.magknits.com/warm04/patterns/sophie.htm)

I-cord is so simple..use a dp needle and cast on 3 or 4 stitches..knit, move the piece to the other side of the needle, turn, knit, move the thing to the other side again, turn knit..sinfully easy, just a bit time consuming.

I need to make that bag one of these years. I'm just so thrown right now I can barely find my own head.

Jessica, everything looks great!! I love your Sophie bag :)

The soaker turned out so cute! Bella looks like she loves it! There is a stretchy bind off that you can try...the Elizabeth Zimmerman stretchy bind off. Here is a link, they are using it for socks here, but it gives you the idea...

Great work!

I have used a bigger size needle for casting off and it doesn't make it so tight.
