Hi there,

My youngest and I have been reading Jesus Wants All of Me children's devotional every night before bedtime. We will finish it up here on Demember 31st and I need to find another one that is really quality (like Jesus Wants All of Me has been).

Ds will be 7-1/2 years old by Christmas time. I need to know what Christian mamas have used and love. I want each devotional linked to a Bible verse like Jesus Wants All of Me is.

Somthing focusing on God's love, giving up ourselves to Jesus on a daily basis etc.....I will not buy nor read hate and fear-mongering crap that I too often run into with Christain books.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

Michelle

I am looking at this one:

The One Year Book of Devotions For Kids (Volume 1)

Here is a link to it:
http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=5087X&event=CF

and

The One Year Book of Devotions for Boys which appears to be by the same folks who do the book mentioned above.

Any experience with these? I try to get nearly all of my Christmas shopping done by November and we have 4 gifts that we give each child. (fitting in these themes: Body, Mind, Spirit, Just for Fun) The devotional book will be this child's "Spirit" gift.

I wanted to add, have you heard of the yahoo group called Readitagainbooks? I highly recommed her group for gently used cheap books. She has lots of education/homeschooling and christian related books, as well as other types. The only thing I will warn you is she is a slow shipper because of the amount of people ordering off the group. However, I have ordered a ton of books and no issues at all!

Looks like there is a companion Bible that goes with this devotional book. The Bible is one for in-between a story-Bible type book and a regular Bible.

I really am leaning towards these two items by Karyn Henley....I read some excerpts from the devotional at Christian Book online and I like the format. Also seems just right for a 7-1/2 year old, which is my ds.

I do recommend Jesus Wants All of Me as a first devotional. It is based on Oswold Chambers book.

Anyway, just adding more to the thread..............

I'll check it out.

I order (if they have it) from Library and Ed.com. Their prices are really low but you have to qualify under one of their categories to buy from them, but most folks will qualify under one of them. (like homeschooler, church teacher, leader, public school teacher, private school teacher, daycare etc....)

I'm not sure you will want this copy....the spine is broken. We will be done with it the 1st of January (2007).

By then, you can just pay postage and have it.
