hastings

I'm calling these playmats even if they aren't all that mat-like. I have no idea where the inspiration came from, but I love the flowers I came up with. They'd probably make cool (if rather large) pincushions. I am thinking I'm going to have to make a fairy bendy and lotus playmat for L for Yule now :) The center is a needlefelted ball and then the petals are blanket stitched and individually sewn to the center. The fingerpuppets have needlefelted embellishments on their wings and include pegs so they can stand-up when they aren't in use.

I did another in my series of treasurebags and hope to finish a ladybug as well

and then to be a bit more seasonal, I created a set of placemats using felted wool sweaters to make reverse applique snowflakes, and recycled a lovely Hudson Bay wool blanket into the mat and embroidered a bit with some wool yarn. I made a set of 4 for me to keep and a set of 6 to sell.
I really love how they look on my table-- can't wait for the snow :)
