The kids at the school where I work are studying Biomes this year. The younger elementary classroom (k-2) has different biomes represented in each corner. The other teacher's aide painted a beautiful rainforest scene on one wall and I made this igloo leading into the closet that the kids like playing in.

The rectangles are done by gluing on meat trays donated by a local grocery store and then putting paper mache over them.

It took a little over a week to make, but I was only working a couple hours a day and then I'd have to wait for the paper mache to dry before I could continue, but it was a good way to make a little money before school really started for the year. I had never done anything like this with chicken wire before, but once I started I could see how much potential for fun projects there is. You could make all kinds of cool play areas for kids out of this stuff. The same shape as the igloo tunnel, turned so the opening is on the top, could be a tree stump or a mushroom stem. If Aidan had any room left in his room, I would be running out to buy chicken- wire to try something like this as an indoor playhouse, but our house is way too small.

That is just amazing. What a really cool idea.

You got my interest with the tree stump idea. Bahh, like there isn't enough to do on my list. My sweet Dane would love a project with mama tho.

Hmmm.
