First off I want to thank you all for your wonderful support of my garden pictures. I LOVE taking them, I love my garden, I just love the whole process, so some good feedback and outside support makes my heart sing. So thank you! Now on to the post:

It rained today. Light patter all afternoon on my bedroom wall. The kids playing in the backyard with umbrellas. Everyone wore a coat.
Fall in the northwest is filled with longing for warm soups and fresh baked breads. These rainy day moments are what a lot of us live for. We wait for the heat of summer to disapate and the cool breezes and light rains to move in.
When I went to the garden to pick tomatos for dinner I saw unimagined beauty just waiting to be captured. It is the only time since I have had this camera that I have wished for a better one. The dropplets were too intense to catch on film, the beauty to small and delicate. I tried, but I truly fail to do it justice.

And just for those other nature lovers out there, the 8 oregon Goldfinch that reside now at my Aunts lake side house.

And the cutest little theif ever (http://goddesshobbies.blogspot.com/2006/09/cutest-little-theif.html), who stole an entire sunflower head while I was out picking daliahs:

Beautiful.
I like your thief too. I wish we had a thief like that. Our theives are huge 4 legged buggers that have names like bambi, doe, and buck. 3 licks and the bird feeder is gone. lol.

Thank you all so much! I am up tonight with insomnia (a common biproduct of gestation for me) and I really loved seeing the comments.
what kind of camera do you have?
I have a Cannon Power Shot S2IS... I love it. I want it to have an manual focus function... then shots like the spider web would have been much better. I want it to have a better macro function too, but looking at that first pic, I realise that I just have to master the one it has. ;) It was $600 with two memory cards, the bag, and two sets of rechargable lithium batteries. Best $600 I have ever spent. No joke.

Great pictures. Now, Val, get over to flickr and sign up!
OT question: does your bird feeder result in weeds growing from the ground underneath? HOw do you handle that?

Great pics, Val. They make me long for the Pacific Northwest. I love that area. My heart will always yearn to live there. I know it's where I'm meant to be. Someday.
What type of camera do you have? The quality of the pics are amazing. We just bought a Panasonic 6 megapixals with 12X optical zoom. I'm curious how the pics will turn out.

This is a 5.0 mega pixel. I picked it becuase of the lense. The lense is larger than any other in its price range and that tends to create a better zoom. It has proven to be very true in this case.
Rebecca I really should sign on to flicker. I sent my brother (the pro photographer) that first one, and he said the same thing. So I will find that very soon and get an account there. I am a bit worried about critisism, but I think I am confident enough now that I can handle a bit. ;)
Here is another visitor that came to the garden this morning... There were two, but the camera didn't want to focus on the other one from any distance, so I got a great shot of his underbelly and that was it. lol...

Katie... I did end up sleeping some more. Sleep isn't something I do all at once anymore. lol... it is like getting me geared up to have a baby where you sleep whenever the baby sleeps and are awake whenever the babe is awake. ;)

you will get criticism. But, that's one of the great things about it because it will inspire you to get even better.
Your pictures - IMO - are better than mine. My first problem is I need to get a better camera. I'm cool with criticism. I'd rather get the honest truth than to not be given the opportunity to grow. The BEST criticism I got was something like this: "you have a really good eye, but need to get a better camera and then learn how to use it" that was right on and yet made me feel good.

Suzie... the last picture in the first set... the one of the squirrel? It is from about 70 ft away. He was all the way on the other side of the yard and I was in my neighbors front yard. I think 12X zoom and a good pixel rating is a pretty darn good photo. ;)

OH and Bec with the bird feeder... YES it does. But it is millet and it is so easy to pull up that I have found it worth it. These birds were not at my house, they were at my aunts. But they were pretty awesome!

send me yours when you set it up. know, however, that most of mine that are currently up are for family from our recent trip. They aren't about trying to take really good pictures. At this point, I'm holding off on much until I get my new camera sometime around Thanksgiving (Canon Rebel XT plus a macro lens)

Yes I totally understand! I use photobucket for such things, and I will have to adjust my flickr account when I get the chance becuase I have already used up my monthly limit of picture uploads (ggrrrrrrrrrr...) but here is my link too.

Edit to say that honestly I will only upload photos that I love here. Being pg and looking at your comments I was surprised at how emotional it all felt for me. I don't mind other people not liking my pictures, but after what some people said about some of the beautiful pictures you took (and I really do think that they are stunning!) I just don't think that I would handle it well. I have been doing this for less than 4 mos now... and I'm pregnant. lol... really that says a lot. I am not out to take professional photographs... at least not yet. I am out to get some awesome prints on my wall and have a well documented life. The more I learn, the less I tend to like just the doing. I don't want that to happen here. YK?

Rebecca can I have your old camera!
Wow its really good, what is it?
We just had to replace ours (I trod on the old one ). We couldnt go all out on a new one, It has instructions the size of a house, so I havent figured it out yet :(
A great camera is one of the things I would spend money, on if we had it. Im hoping one day we can invest in a good one.
Val, I always love your pics, Youll have so much fun taking them of your new baby :)
