View Full Version : Black and White quilt square swap
Let's try for 6.5 inch pre-washed squares - thirty per fabric please. Ship date if Oct. 30th. Please send a SASE or postage for flat rate priority envelope with your squares. Also as with the fall swap if you could put your squares into a zip type bag with your name/address/ and number of sets written on it. That should make sorting much easier for me for the ship out.

I am such a newbie about swaps that I have some questions about this. Please direct me to another message if the answers are already posted. If I took one spot in this swap I would send 30 squares of the same fabric and get 30 different squares back? About how much would shipping cost? I'm interested but since I haven't done a swap I want to make sure I know what I'm getting into. Thanks!

Yes, mama, for each set of 30 that you send in, you get thirty back (well, one is the original you sent, so you get 29 'new' ones LOL), and when I shipped mine for the farmer's market swap, I did 2 sets, they both fit into a ziploc bag, and then I put them, along with a flat rate envelope that already had postage on it into a flat rate envelope, and that worked just fine. I spent 4.05 on the way there, and then 4.05 to get them back :D

What are the standards for our fabric choices? I have a great fabric with black and white medallions, but the background is grey. Does that matter? Or should it be strictly black and white?

That sounds fine with me. Grey is just a shade of black.

4.05 both ways seems like a lot! Is there a cheaper way to do shipping? It is pretty cheap to send a yard of fabric isn't it? I was thinking about doing this one, but surprised at the shipping a bit. Any ideas, or is this what everyone does.
Thanks!

When I was thinking about what to make with a black and white quilt, I thought about making some black and white photo squares to go with the fabric. That would be really cute!

I'm sure first class would be cheaper, it just seems that more packages get lost that are mailed FC than those that are shipped Priority...that's why I choose Priority. I don't mind paying the extra to (hopefully) make sure my squares actually get here LOL. (Not saying they *will* get lost if they are shipped FC, just, it seems like everytime I hear about something not getting to it's destination, it was FC). I know some mamas use FC shipping, they could probably give you an idea on the shipping for that! :D

Mine are on the way :)
I sent them this weekend. They're white with black dragonflies, black with white dragonflies, and a black with white drizzle swirly design. I love them all - hope you do, too. :D
I enclosed a self-addressed envelope, and a note that I am PPing the fees. Please let me know how much and where to send when the time comes!
Thanks :)

I was wondering if these are ready to ship?
I'm still waiting on two people to send me their pkgs. If they don't arrive by Sat. I will divide up what I do have and mail them out the first of next week.
I'm so sorry for the delay on this swap.

No biggie. I was just checking since I think I forgot to put stamps on the return mailer.
I mailed the packages out on monday afternoon. There are doubles on some squares in each set as two people dropped out. Hope you all like the asortment as much as I do. :)

They are SO cool, Charlene! This was a FABULOUS swap. :)
I pulled out the cow and batik stripes (aka "zebra") print ones, as well as a few others to make a little hanging thing for Jack to look at while we're driving. I laid out my quilt tonight and took pictures, but I'm not showing until it's done! :D
It's REALLY cool! :)
Thanks to everyone who participated!
