Basically, for recovering ppl of my faith. I want to go, I'm so chicken!! This is a big step. It's run by a local UU church. I emailed asking for specifics, and if they always have it... saying I didn't want to show up and have no one be there. She laughed at me and said it is "quite large."

Could there really be that many ppl going through what I am?? I am so excited by this, and so terrified. It's a big step away from my previous path. I feel such guilt. But man I am in THE BEST place in the world to have some community going through this change. :kittypink I also found out there's a big weekend conference in my city this October, same topic. Wow. It's all in my back yard.

Someone kick me in the butt and tell me not to be so chicken-sh!t!

Really, just go. The worst that happens is you don't like it and you don't go back. No loss, but possibly great benefits and gains. The only way you are going to find a right fit for you is if you give it a chance and try it on.

What 'are' you *afraid* of?

I wish we had a smiley for kicking you in the rear :smooch:

Good question for me to answer (probaby boring to hear LOL). First of all, I just don't do real great in new situations alone as it is. I'm more of an introvert and tend to feel ridiculous outside my own turf.

But mostly, just the fact that it is a more dramatic step away from my religion.

I understand how you feel. But you sound like you really need this! Go, and then report back to us about what you liked about it.

Yeah, it might really help to realize you aren't so "alone." Having a community makes all the difference, whatever your beliefs. And yeah, look at the bright side! LOL. You are perfectly located.

No way! That's pretty ironic. Did they not hold a meeting this week you mean? Or did noone else come? Bizarre. I'm sorry, I know it took alot of courage.

Well there were tons of ppl around... I guess they had a breakfast earlier, and it was right after worship or something? I dunno. Everyone I talked to was very nice, but no one had attended the group before so didn't know much except that they met in the sanctuary. So I waited.. and no one came in. I did get the phone number of the man who runs the group. I jumped through a lot of hoops to get there. But at least I know where it is and all that.
