I will be leaving in 30 minutes to head to the courthouse for Desmond's TPR (Termination of Parental Rights) hearing. This will be the third time we have traveled to the courthouse for this purpose. Neither of the first two times felt "right" and we were okay when TPR was not granted. It feels right this time and Desi's mom has signed the paperwork that she will not fight the request. But, everyone tells us that it is never a "done deal" until the Judge signs off. You never know how a Judge will decide until it is over. So, I have butterflies in my stomach wondering...is it real this time?

TPR was granted. We now move on to the next stage by beginning the Adoption process. Just seems so unreal after waiting so long.

Oh, Lisha, congratulations on this step in the journey! You must feel so relieved to finally have it happen this time. I'm so glad for your family, especially that sweet little boy.

As a CASA / Guardian ad Litem, I know that the process usually seems to take forever. But the main thing is that the hardest part is over with and now it's just a little more waiting it out........

Thank you all:heart: It's been a somewhat difficult time for Desi. He loves us and is already deciding what his new middle name will be, but he is also sad that he will never live with his mother again. We have assured him that she will remain in his life (we have a very good relationship with her and have told her that she can continue to see him as long as she keeps her life going in the right direction).
