I've seen this done on some of my kid's clothes, but was wondering what type of felt to use and also how this is done? Thanks!

Sure, felt appliques are fun and easy because they don't fray lol. You can just straight stitch close to the edge to applique or zigzag or satin stitch if you prefer that look, although satin stitching can be tricky because of the thickness of the felt. You are going to want to use regular acrylic felt (the cheap stuff in either squares or yardage that you see everywhere) so that it is washable and you don't have to worry about shrinkage.

yep very easy.

use a white "school" glue stick to hold the pieces down while stitching.

Have fun.
