I have had some misery through radiation with urinary issues....Pelvic radiation
effects the bladder, bowels, vagina, etc...soemtimes ever crease down there hurts! But it is manageable (thanks to chickweed red clover salve) ;)

However, the urinary problems are a *****. Feels like UTI, but does not heal like UTI because it is an irritated bladder from rads. Also, the rads cause teh ovaries to cease their function so menopause also causes the urethra to get tight.

I was told to take AZO with pain releiver. It did help some but not enough. Some days I would scream in discomfort becuase there was nothing I could do to feel better.

Finally I decided to use my herbal wisdom (what littel I have) and put it to work. Celery juice and marshmallow root tea.
It tastes kinda yuck, but it lubes everything up so nice and it has eased the pain about 90%.

I am certain that everyone that has a urinary problem needs to get this! lol

I pour some dried root in a quart pyrex and fill it to the top with cold water and allow to steep overnight. Then I strain as I make a glass-several times a day until at night it is finished. Then I do the process again.
You want to cold water steep this root so it does not lose its properties in heat.

:hippy: Don't sell yourself short - you have abundant herbal wisdom!

You are wise, patient, and intuitive.

Good to hear the herbs are working for you. I wish I could have gotten my mother to use some alternatives for her radiation effects. (she was diagnosed with endometrial / abdominal cancer last year ) So many months on she still has ill days.

I am certain that what you are doing now will make so much difference for you in the long haul, as well as the benefits for you today.

I take marshmallow root capsules for bowel upsets. I never knew it had urinary advantages too. Thanks. I am glad it helped you.

I need to keep that in mind. I have frequent kidney stones, I wonder if it would help?

Yes, it absolutely is hailed to be a kidney stone helper along with buchu, gravel root, and some others. And avoiding things high in oxalic acids like spinach raw. Avoiding coffee adn tea or at least having minimal and drinking plenty of water...you poor thing.

Katie, I am so sorry to hear about your mom's ails. It is no fun. She had full abdominal which is even more difficult on a person then pelvic because more organs get the zaps. If you can encourage her to find some herb teas she likes that are rich in nutrients such as the famous prgnancy tea I make and brag about. I drank soem daily to help me have energy through it all.
oatstraw, red clover, alfalfa, rose hips, nettles, spearmint to flavor it all. I love it and it really helps. Since her body is in cell healing after rads, it can't hurt at all but only help. Of course, who knows if she woudl even listen to you about it, but maybe she would.
