I also use one that I print out. I use the weekly planner from homeschoolmom.com. I have a binder that I made into an organizer. I keep my menu planners in there, homeschool lesson plans, and cleaning checklists. I'm usually a total scatterbrain and very disorganized and this has helped me so much!

We started using a new one this year and are actually still using it. I usually end up using several calendars in a given year because what I have just doesn't work. The Planner Pad seems to have room for most everything we need to track - daily appointments, daily things-to-do, and weekly lists plus notes - all in a 2-page spread per week. Geez, I sound like a commercial.
You can look at it at:
Look inside a Planner Pad (https://plannerpads.com/concept.asp)
If you scroll down, you can look at the different sections by clicking on the links.
They also had quick shipping and delivery.

Here's a link to a thread here that might give you some additional ideas.

I'm getting ready to buy in the next month so it's at the front of my mind.
ETA: There is a discussion that is active at A Home For Homeschoolers about different planning software.

thanks! I did forget about Donna young too. It looks like she has some new forms and the site doesn't seem so overwhelming to me anymore.

Really? I had heard both good and bad things about it. What do you like about it? Any snags in the program that you have found?

I use two diff planners - one for me to make notes in while working w/Sinead and another that is software so that I'll have a formal record of what we do. For the write-in planner - I just bought a teacher's planner from Education Express. However, I'm hoping to hit big HS booty at Office Max, Office Depot, Staples and Mailbox Teacher Appreciation days and pick up some new ones! Check w/these stores locally and ask when their TA events are being held!
The software planner I use is Homeschool Tracker. Sorry - I don't have a link at the moment. I absolutely LOVE this software. Although my state doesn't require me to keep such thorough records - I want them for when Sinead goes back to public school. I want to show everything we've done throughout the year. Although this software costs money - I feel like it's a worthwhile investment. It's easy to use and prints the most wonderful reports. I love it.

planner? What's that?
I keep appointments written on the family calendar - as well as important things like packing and moving dates (oye!).
We have 2 large white boards in the family room where we do most of our school work. One of them is completely devoted to Language Arts. It has space for each child's work in each particular area of LA. Then they cross them off as they complete them. Austin and Nate each have a 5 subject notebook where they keep their written work - with dates. They both have math books that they will be putting dates on the papers they do also.
I would get lost with a planner.

I'm using a standard teacher planner I picked up at Office-Depot this year. It's blank colums, and so far, so good. I'm liking it.

I just picked my new one up for the year.
I went from the At-A-Glance 16 month Sept-Dec of the following year. I'd used it for the last 3ish years. Monthly view. 3 hole punched. Think wall calendar but instead of a pict it has lines for writing.
I needed some more room for notes with 2 kids I'm supposed to be tracking. So I went with At-A-Glance spiral bound July-July Monthly & Weekly view. I didn't want a weekly view with times filled in since it is for notes/journalling vs appointments. The full name is "At-A-Glance Quick Notes Academic Year Self-Management System 2006-2007 Weekly/Monthy" I also really wanted the tabs for the months to make them easier to find. I picked it up 2 days ago and I'm already in love. Each week has a 2 day spread. Saturday and Sunday each have as much space as M-F. We school all week so that was important to me. Each week has an extra box for notes.
I'm really addicted to the At-A-Glance Quick Notes calendars. My old system was from the same but a different type kwim?
I'm so excited about my new system!!

I typed out weekly plans on my computer. As I finish a goal for the week, I check it off. I have them in a three ring binder. I used the same system last year and it worked very well

The basic edition is free to download here http://www.homeschooltracker.com/download_basic.aspx
We also use Donna Young for several other items/forms (very useful site).
With the homeschool tracker, everything for each student is in one locale. It does take a while to get used to the format and navigation, but once you get the hang of it, you'll breeze right through entering your information.
