This is what is planned for this year so far. Everything except for the allergist was there last year and it was a real struggle. I feel it's all important and can't figure out what to give up:(

Monday-karate in the evening
Tuesday-Science at lunchtime
Wed-speach for dd in the morning & swim at 11 for ds, karate in the evening
Thurs-Private karate lesson in the morning and adult class following that
Fri-Sports class at lunchtime

I have to take dd twice a week for allergy shots, it's not scheduled, so we can pretty much fit in it whenever as long as there is a day between. A friend thinks I need to let ds do one thing if it's big like karate or 2 smaller things like science and pe program. My dh thinks we should drop swim b/c we just finished 2 weeks of swim and he thinks ds is doing fine. My friend thinks he's not quite water-safe yet and I am inclined to agree. I don't know that I really saw much improvement though the 4 months he was in swim compared to these 2 weeks. I think it's the "way" of teaching. I feel it's all important and don't know what to chose. I'd love to hear your thought.
thanks

You could take a break from swimming and just go to the pool as time allows. We have one big thing that DS does (Taekwondo), everything else is non-commital. Is that word? We do extra's as a plus when work gets done early, or we feel like having a field trip day, etc.. It works for us.

Thanks. I'm thinking I might alternate the sports classes too when I hear the schedule. Still contemplating :)
thanks again

I think it depends on who the activities are for. Are they all just for your son? Or does your daughter do them too? In the past I've tried to schedule things at the same time or right after each other that more than one child can do, that way activities are balanced between the kids and I can go less places, but still have them all get to do something.

Pretty much it's all for Zachary. He does the karate, the swim, the science and pe. If I sign up dd for early enrollment K with the charter then she can do them all starting in January. I just feel we are always going somewhere and then always behind in our "book" work:(

Ok, so your ds has 6 activities a week and your dd 1. (I didn't count the adult class as an activity since you are already there.) Speech therapy shouldn't be dropped, so you have to eliminate some of his 6 activities. My "rule" of sorts is one sport, one instrument. So my kids play soccer and take piano. If they want to change sports to something else that's fine, but we stick to 2 things at a time per child. So following my "rule", here's what I'd do.

Monday-karate in the eveningI'd keep this because it's in the evening, so it wouldn't disrupt your school day. Also because your dh is probably home by then, he might be able to take him to the class sometimes, so you aren't always the one who drops off.

Tuesday - Science at lunchtimeI'd drop this or Sports class so that you have at least one day a week that you are home with no planned activities.

Wed-speech for dd in the morning & swim at 11 for ds, karate in the evening I'd drop swim. If you think swimming is super important for the summer, then I'd drop one Karate night and keep swim until you think he's a good enough swimmer then drop it and add back in the extra karate day.

Thurs-Private karate lesson in the morning and adult class following that

Fri-Sports class at lunchtime drop this or Science

The other thing to think about when considering keeping/dropping classes is that you have another child. So if you keep your ds at his current activity level, you won't have any time to add anything for your dd.
