~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~
I was thinking this morning that getting to know some Amity mamas through a sample of their daily routines would be fun! Just send a sampling of what a day is like for you in a swap box. It could sort of be similar to the "local area" swap only more personal. For example:
the tea you have at breakfast
a memento from your favorite lunch spot
a souvenir from your favorite kid friendly hang out in the afternoon
your favorite way to unwind
your favorite soap in the shower
a book by your fave author
I'm just going to go through my daily routine adding whatever I can from what we do that day. Even little pictures your kids draw, crafts you are working on (maybe make an extra), if you use a specific chore list/program maybe include a sample of that. Am I making sense?
Let's make this a $20 swap. I'll take sign-ups for a week or so (or until it seems like we have everyone interested, lol) and post the list by the 20th. Ship by 8/14 with delivery confirmation.
Anyone want to play?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
ABOUT ME:
I'm pagan, but would welcome non-preachy information on other religions (for example, if you say a specific prayer each morning, I would love a copy of it, kwim?) I intend to include a few pagan-ish things in my box, but nothing too specifically offensive to non-pagans.
We'll eat anything. The worse it is for you, the better. Expect Nutella from me :P.
Kids are 5yo girl, 4yo boy, 1yo girl. We hate Bratz, but I don't really care what comes in the box. I just won't guarantee it will stick around long if it's a Bratz doll ;).
I am just getting into Yoga and other workout stuff. I'm just trying some WATP.
We are totally easy to please. I want to truly get to know YOU (whoever you ends up being) so nothing will go unnoticed or un-appreciated as long as it is meaningful to you in some way.

I wanna play too...provided this ends in Aug lol

I might could do it, provided it's in August too.. this month is insane around here.
Edited to say that we've got a ton of allergies.. we can't have dairy, wheat/gluten, eggs, fish/shellfish, peanuts, treenuts, tomatoes, strawberries in melons. Leila has anaphalactic contact reactions and the rest of us have airborne irritation to our allergens, so I can't use bath/body products that contain wheat or dairy, strawberries, treenuts or peanuts. I do drink both coffee and tea, but nothing containing even artificial flavorings that mimic our allergens.
We're pagan, and my favorite colors are blues/greens/purples.. I don't exercise - but want to try bellydancing. I've got 3 kids.. Lindsey will be 5, Josh is 3 1/2, and Leila will be a year old by the ship date.

I dont think my life is that interesting but I am intrigued by the idea. Especially if its for August. :)
ETA: We are a coffee drinking (decaf mostly for me) family with no allergies. Well the baby seems to be senstive to wheat and dairy but she's doing well on mama milk for now.
We are not very religious/spiritual, but I am open to anything.
I have DS 5 and DD 8m.
I am in the process of starting an exerce program again, I used to be a fiend like Barb :) but slacked off quite a bit in the last 1.5yr.
And I am still trying to figure out what is interesting enough about my life to send. lol
sounds like fun - i am in - (editing to add more info per the suggestion)
I'm an exercising mama , so most of my day involves working out - if theres another exercising mama out there she'd benefit from my package lol
We're practicing Christians so there is quite a bit of Christ in our daily lives.
i drink coffee and green tea (way too much of it)
My kids are very into characters and anything related to Disneyland

August 14 ok with everyone as a "ship by" date?
Soggy Granola
07-12-2006, 06:47 PM
Am I able to play?
If so I have fun days I would like to share.
Do you have feedback anywhere? Like Ebay? If you've done txns here then start a feedback thread and ask everyone you've done biz with to post. Do you know any Amity mamas in person who could vouch (sp) for you?

Homeschooling funsies welcome. :)

sorry - changed my mind...

I was planning to pm my swap partner and make sure there was nothing that was a no-no. I know some families have allergies and such so I wouldn't want to cause any problems with that. Religious no-no's are also a consideration.

Am I too late?? I want in! I'm going to have to get creative with this one!
Adding requested info:
No allergies here
We're Christians
My kiddos are Elizabeth, 4 years old and Benjamin, 11 months at swap time
My favorite colors are purple and blue
We're really easy going and laid back. I love to try new things and I didn't renew my gym membership this year so I've been doing more exercising at home. I love to cook and make things with my children.

I wanna play as well.
We are a Pagan and Spiritual family (some enjy bible reading, but beliefs are not Christian if that makes any sense)
The only thing we are really opposed to digestivly is Sugar (please only pure fruit sweetened, Stevia, or Splenda)
We love all colors, but Pink.
We are also a 2 mama head of household kinda family. ;)
We are not easily offeneded accept by Hate.
DD (8 1/2 yrs old) is offended by Barbie, Brats, and like characters as well as anything circus related.
Would be willing to recieve and/or send to any type of family..they do not have to match mine. :)
Happy Thoughts!!

Ooh, I'm in! This sounds like a fun one! :)
Let's see... we don't have any allergies. I love tea, coffee, etc, and we're pretty laid back about food in general, so no worries there.
We're Christian.
My favorite colors are sage green, cranberry, denim blue. Really, any colors as long as they're not pastel. Fave scents are spicy/sweet: baking scents, vanilla, cinnamon, spiced pumpkin, spiced apple, etc. I don't like floral scents.
My kids are Justin, 5 1/2, and Rebecca, 3.
We homeschool, we love crafty things, and we're pretty easy going and not easily offended! :)

I think I could do 10 boxes, lol. I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what to include. I could also spend $100, lol. I have so many great ideas that I want to include them all. I am having fun though, and it'll be a great excuse to plan a wonderful day :).

I would love to hear more about the kinds of things everyone put in their boxes. I think it would let everyone have a snapshot into each others lives. I had a hard time making mine interesting (I hope my swap partner likes it!) so I am curious about everyone else's packages.

We just recieved an awesome package from Sonya. How fun! Lots of stuff to do - including a nice sampling of tea, a good book, a craft kit, veggie tales activities, and some cop stuff. :) Maxine is currently running around playing sheriff, lol, although she doesn't really know what that consists of besides blowing a whistle and telling me to "STOP," while pointing to her badge. :hahaha:
Thanks so much!

Thank you to Mom2avasteph! I pm'd you, but I wanted to thank you here also. Your swap package was awesome. The kids and I love everything. Very thoughtful of you. We have some wonderful tea and coffee (I have plans for an iced coffee this afternoon), a beautiful calendar that goes through 2007, an herb magazine, beautiful little tote bag, my fav soap--Tami's Green Tea and Honeysuckle, and dog biscuits! It was all perfect.
Thank you again...

I got my swap package today!!! I love mail:)
I'm so tired I'll probably forget half the things included, but I got a nice letter with all kinds of activities listed....My girls liked the coloring books and crayons, my husband liked the Atlas!, and my favorite was the Dunkin Donuts (hey, I'm from MA) coupons!!!
What else...A Jimmy Buffet CD, oatmeal for breakfast, floaties for the pool, cards for after supper games, and a cool book I must read after everyone is asleep, which should be any hour now:)
I really enjoyed this swap!

Mine hasn't arrived yet, either. But the mama sending to me has kept in touch and I'm not at all worried.
Has the mama sending to you contacted you at all? If you haven't received it yet, and haven't heard from the mama, I'd maybe pm requesting an update.

I recieved my package today and it was worth the wait! Thanks so much mama! I loved everything. I have always wanted to try steel cut oats. The teas look wonderful. And the knitting needles and yarn - I just started learning how to knit, so that is perfect. What kind of yarn is it? (See, I am that green lol). And your dd's pictures were darling. I look forward to the video, although my one experience with Pilates at the gym was embarrassing and i never went back. Maybe trying it at home will work much better.
Thanks again. This was a super fun swap.
