nah, I don't think anyone wants to...JUST KIDDING!! ROFL. :P

So, we would each send you thirty 6.5 inch squares?
I'm in! I'll edit when I find the fabric I want :D

I can send in pumpkins ( I guess that's a late summer farmers market item...).

Now we are sending in 30 squares if I am reading correctly?

copmom

Does 30 squares sound right? The quilt Margaret had posted was made with 30 squares. I think that will work for us.
Send a SASE with your squares - that should work for shipping. :)

RocketScientist

Please add me - I will look for fabric this weekend. John Deere tractors OK if I find them? I can do two. I may have enough for daisies too - will have to measure fabric I already have.

I would really prefer sending/receiving with a flat rate envelope - I can send you a stamp for one of those if you have a source for f.r.e.'s. I don't trust a regular envelope when sending something soft like fabric.

copmom
06-22-2006, 09:10 PM
A flat rate envelope is fine - I've seen them at my PO. :)

I'm not sure how "Farmers' Market" the tractors would be - does anyone else have an opinion on them?

Sandi
06-22-2006, 09:33 PM
I'll play - I'll update when I get the fabric :)

copmom

No nerds here - just enthusiastic sewing mamas! I added another spot for you and one for Hastings. :)

RocketScientist
06-24-2006, 10:25 AM
I got the John Deere fabric but if there are objections to it, please do let me know. I can substitute *some* people's squares with daisies instead, but I don't have enough for all 30.

I did also get chili peppers, and another fabric with apples, so could you put me down for 3, please? :)

copmom
06-24-2006, 11:04 AM
Margaret - no one has commented on the John Deere, so it's a go! :)
You've got 3 spots now! :D

hastings
06-24-2006, 12:34 PM
Can I have 2 more spots Sonya? I found some fun squash and corn fabric I think I'm going to get for 2 sets and I think I have enough apples for a third set.

copmom
06-24-2006, 05:21 PM
Gotcha Hastings! This is going to be one cool quilt! :)
Should we cap the sign up now? We're at 15 - that would be 2 squares of each fabric per quilt - a workable number.

tmrhopkins
06-24-2006, 05:54 PM
Could I still just have one spot but send in 15 of pumpkins and 15 of something else? That would give more variety of squares or would that just be too confusing?

Tawnya

copmom
06-24-2006, 07:58 PM
Tawnya,
I think that would be fine. Right now we're at 15 people, so they'd each receive one of each of your themes. :)
Please put a note in with your squares to remind me that you have 15 of each - it will save me a step.

mamanaturale
06-27-2006, 11:54 PM
i got peas!

Gotcha Hastings! This is going to be one cool quilt! :)
Should we cap the sign up now? We're at 15 - that would be 2 squares of each fabric per quilt - a workable number.
I would rather we didn't... I kind would like 30 different prints, I would even get some more prints to fill up more spots, but if everybody else want to cap it, that would totally fine with me.
:hippy:

copmom
06-28-2006, 07:50 PM
Okay - updated the peas. :)
I can see wanting 30 different fabrics - we'll leave the sign ups open until the end. It's just that different #'s will make sorting more difficult - each person is sending 30 squares - the easiest quantities to sort would be 10, 15, and 30 participants.
Anyone is welcome - the more the merrier - I'll work the sorting out. (Eenie, meenie, miney, moe.....lol!)

mamanaturale

I need an addy too, and I'm expecting my fabric to get here today @@, it's still not here, so I may not be able to mail it until Monday the 17th, unless it comes early this morning and I can get them cut by tomorrow afternoon.

I might be able to take gloriels spot. How do the mechanics of this work?"

I cut 30 6.5 squares of my fabric and send them to ONE person who in turn sends them out to each of us? Is that accurate? How do we cover shipping to US then? Or do I have it all wrong.

copmom
07-19-2006, 07:24 PM
You are welcome to Gloriel's spot - actually as many spots as you would like. I think we're still under 30 different fabrics.
Yep - you cut 30 identical, single theme, squares - ship them to me. I'll divide them up and ship back out. One sender sent me stamps to cover return shipping. I'll post shipping totals for anyone who doesn't send stamps or a SASE.

zaasia777
07-20-2006, 01:32 AM
Okay, I'll try this. I'll be offline 7/20 but will be back on early 7/21 and will send these to you then. PM me your addy and I'll send these out Friday.

Thanks.

Thanks!

copmom

Margaret,
Chasingche didn't send - baby time in her house. I put in one of the pea squares for her (I'm still hoping someone has her address so I can send her a set.) :)
Lemonsong dropped out - life interferred.
Any squares that are unaccounted for came from me. I got a little carried away towards the end and added the red with vegetable outlines and a couple of others I can't recall.

zaasia777
08-25-2006, 09:35 PM

zaasia777
08-31-2006, 02:44 AM
Nothing.

I am so disappointed.
But PO says nothing has come in but if it happens to come back to you COPMOM, could you please have your post office "round date" it as the address is good as addressed. That is what my PO said to do.

copmom
08-31-2006, 10:48 AM
I'm very sorry it hasn't arrived yet. I'm sure I shipped it the same date as all the others - I took them all to the PO personally.
I'm not sure what "Round Date" means, but I'll try it, if it comes back to me.

PM me your address again - I'll ship out one of my sets to you.

Thanks for the encouragement. I think I am just really disappointed and quite sad. I'll spare you the details of my neighbor but it really would have been a beautiful thing for her.

Copmom--I am so not trying to bug you. But, could you please let me know the date you mailed them? I know you are really busy with other swaps and probably with your own quilt but I would really appreciate this information.

Thanks.

copmom
09-03-2006, 07:30 PM
I mailed all the sets on August 12th. Many went priority. Others, like yours went first class, whatever postage was included.

Tuesday
09-03-2006, 08:17 PM
Zaasia777 , unfortunately I have seen even priority packages take several weeks, heard of them taking a month...even worse for first class...

Unfortunately, this is the nature of swaps :( I'm sorry that you haven't recieved yours yet, but, particularly considering first class time frames (if that's what you had yours sent through) I would give it a month from the time it was shipped before considering it 'lost' :( It stinks, because I can tell how much you wanted to get it done for your neighbor, but swaps are just very uncertain things when it comes to time and deadlines :( I hope it gets there soon!

Sandi
09-04-2006, 09:05 AM
Yeah, what Tuesday said. And, yet another reason it's a very good idea to get priority shipping with delivery confirmation. Packages don't get beat up and lost nearly as often.

I am sorry you didn't recieve your squares mama. At this point I would imagine, they are probably lost. I am sorry this swap didn't work out for you. Unfortunately the USPS isn't always on top of thier game. I know how frustrating it is to have a lost package. I have had it happen a few times :( (Both sending *and* recieving).

I realize you feel like things aren't right, but I know that copmom/Sonya is a very reliable mama here at Amity, and has always gotten positive feedback from those she's had transactions with...I really trust that she shipped your package with the rest if she said that this is what happened. I'm sorry for your frustrations mama...it would be a huge letdown to not get the squares you had relied upon getting. I don't know of anyway that would 'fix' this for you or I would do what I could. I'm sorry mama...this truly isn't typical of a swap, and I'm sorry that it happened to you :(

copmom

Still nothing.

And something just isn't sitting right with me.

Excuse me?
Let's review, shall we?
I allowed you to join this swap without any feedback or any history here. Your public profile says nothing about you, and I've never seen you post any thread with a signature of any kind. I'm pretty easy going and trusting, so I let those things slide and invited you to take part. I've seen other swaps where a new person posts with interest and are shot down - sorry you're too new, you have no feedback, etc. I let you in - welcomed you, even.

I received your squares and posted positive feedback for you. The ONLY feedback you have here - posted 8-2-06.

I mailed all the sets out on August 12th - posted a mailing thread on the main sewing board http://www.amitymama.com/vb/sewing-mamas/309048-farmers-market-quilt-squares-mail.html

Your set went first class in the SASE you provided.

On 8-15, you wanted me to hurry and mail your squares and any others that other participants would donate to you.

Between 8-15 and 8-31, you posted multiple times about how you haven't received your squares. You never once contacted me directly, through pm or email.

On 8-31, I offered to send you one of my sets, at my cost, and asked you to pm your address. You never did.

You continued to post your displeasure and disappointment here, as if trying to drum up support.

Today you insult me.

I have a feedback thread here that dates from 2004. I have one on ebay that is even older. I have never cheated, conned, or otherwise mislead anyone at this site or any other site, and I'm not about to start now.

I'm sorry your squares didn't arrive. I know they were posted with all the others, in the envelope you provided.

You don't seem to have the decency to contact me directly and instead rely on multiple postings and ambiguous statements on a public board. I don't appreciate it.

I guess you can consider this a learning experience and choose not to participate in any of my other swaps. I take back the offer to send you one of my sets. If you don't have the cahones to contact me directly or to send your address when I asked for it, to send you ONE OF MY SETS in good faith, I have no interest in making sure you are pleased with this swap.

This won't sit right with you either, but I don't care to hear about it.

Sonya

Whoa!

Sandi
10-13-2006, 06:20 PM
I think Sonya's frustration is understandable.

Maybe it wasn't your intention, but it seemed like you were hinting that you wanted another set sent to you - and clearly she has done everything within her power to rectify the situation and it seems that your preference was to make this rather public here on the thread instead of discussing it with the swap moderator.

Unfortunately, you chose to have it shipped in a way that isn't trackable. Your decision created this problem, and it's not up to Sonya to do anything else. The fact that she was kind enough to even OFFER something else is beyond expectation. IF this package is legitimately lost, take it up with your post office. It's certainly not Sonya's fault.

Sorry, but it's no one's fault but yours - this is why we do priority with delivery confirmation - and why ebay is required to do the same. No one here has any idea if you've gotten them and just want more. But we know that Sonya is a trustworthy, active member and that the rest of us safely received ours, packaged appropriately for shipment.

I'm sorry. All I can say is if they didn't show up, tack it up to a lesson learned and request delivery confirmation in the future. All this hassle and your apparent disappointment could have been prevented by spending the extra $2.

Tuesday
10-13-2006, 06:32 PM
I have to agree with everything Sandi has said. I am sorry that it came to this, and that you are upset to this extent. In Sonya's defense, I too found the phrasing you were using, and the repeated postings abrasive in nature.

Unfortunately unless you are willing to pay for tracking or, even insurance honestly, it's the fault of the person paying for shipping. I would say the same thing about myself, so this isn't directed at *just* you. If my package didn't arrive, everyone else's did and I had opted not to pay for priority and DC or at the very *least* tracking, I would have to view it as a lesson learned and my own fault. *any* time I opt to not get insurance or DC I find myself a little concerned until the package actually arrives because I KNOW there can be no repurcussions and it's my own fault. Fortunately that's only happened to me once.

Again, I am sorry that you are upset to this degree, but again, I don't think Sonya can be held in any way responsible.

zaasia777
10-13-2006, 06:49 PM
I am just going to leave this "discussion" and suggest that perhaps DC could be suggested to newbies or in the swap rules or suggestions or whatever.

ETA: I finally got my squares.
