Okay, I was determined to figure out how to make these things. My first attempt was awful, so the kids are using that. I got the hat pattern from Stephanie (Jrnme) :heart: The Cozy Cocoon I traced from my preemie one and added a half inch so it would be roomier. The preemie one doesn't have much stretch and it's awfully hard to even get on the baby dolls around here. :smirk:

Here's my second prototype - this one I used french seams on and added a little cuff thingy at the top. I made the mistake of adding the cuff after the seams were done and got a funky pucker at the top. I also topstitched the outside and I ended up not liking the look of that at all:

This is the third one I made - this one turned out fine, thank God, since it was my beloved Munki Munki and I'm running out! The pic is a little wonky - but it's a symmetrical crescent shape like it's supposed to be. :)

Then I re-made the stripey one - focusing more on getting the seams right and matching my stripes. This one turned out great - I'm very happy with it:

And, finally, a hat for Jack out of some interlock I was gifted - this is the last teensy bit I had of this fabric. It's super-soft and says "it's a boy!" :)

I love both the hats and the cocoons! I plan on making my little guy some hats too. I may have to try a cocoon!

I love these! You did great! I have been yearning over their website, thinking about how much nicer this would be for the summer babe then having him dressed in a onesie and swaddled too! I want to give the little gnome hats a shot too - you did great on all of your things!

Can I ask you the dimensions you used, esp for the neck opening? I think the basic length that I have seen is about 20 or so inches, how wide is your neck opening on those?

I've got a few preggo friends that I need to sew for. Would you mind doing a sew and show on these?

The thing is - I just traced it, adding about an inch for size difference (I had a preemie one) and seam allowance. But I think I can figure out how to do a SnS.

I'll send you a tape measure if that ensures a sew-along! LOL

I want to make a few of these for all my friends that are pg. Or, can you make me a cheapy one for tracing?
