Okay, I was determined to figure out how to make these things. My first attempt was awful, so the kids are using that. I got the hat pattern from Stephanie (Jrnme) The Cozy Cocoon I traced from my preemie one and added a half inch so it would be roomier. The preemie one doesn't have much stretch and it's awfully hard to even get on the baby dolls around here. :smirk:
Here's my second prototype - this one I used french seams on and added a little cuff thingy at the top. I made the mistake of adding the cuff after the seams were done and got a funky pucker at the top. I also topstitched the outside and I ended up not liking the look of that at all:

This is the third one I made - this one turned out fine, thank God, since it was my beloved Munki Munki and I'm running out! The pic is a little wonky - but it's a symmetrical crescent shape like it's supposed to be. :)

Then I re-made the stripey one - focusing more on getting the seams right and matching my stripes. This one turned out great - I'm very happy with it:

And, finally, a hat for Jack out of some interlock I was gifted - this is the last teensy bit I had of this fabric. It's super-soft and says "it's a boy!" :)
