This is the chance to try something new, get rid of some random crafty materials, or just have a little fun and let your hair down! Are you stuck in a crafty rut? Always wanted to try fimo but afraid to? Got a pile of felt you don't know what to do with? Does your home or nature table NEED something, you just don't know what it is? Now is your chance!

Rules are simple for this swap. Send something you would like to receive. We'll keep groups at 6 so you're sending 5 items each. I was going to go along with a summer theme, but you can do whatever comes to you. This is also a chance for new crafters to jump in without pressure. By signing up for this swap you understand and agree that not everything you get back is going to be professional quality or otherwise perfect. It WILL be thought out, crafted with love, and wonderful because of the intent behind it.

Ship date is July 31

Group 1:

1. Gwen/Soggy Granola *received*
2. Dannielle *received*
3. Sonya *received*
4. Korwynne *received*
5. Meg *received*
6. Starkisses *received*
7. Lazygirrl *received*

A week later is fine with me, Starkisses. I'll add you. Is anyone opposed to adding lazygirrl on as well? We'd be making 6 items each, which is no problem for me, but it's up to you guys. I'm making several different items so what's one more, lol. I'll add her too unless there is someone who doesn't want to make one more item. Either way, just let me know everyone and I'll go ahead and close it out.

Megmama

Hey, can we make it a week later ship date for all of us? I am finishing up the mermaid swap and have to decide what to make for this one still!!
6 things to send is fine though :D

Korwynne
06-25-2006, 06:13 PM
add whomever.. but I agree with the date.. if we know someone is going to run late, let's just make that date work for everyone :)

Soggy Granola
06-26-2006, 09:23 AM
Agreed, we'll push the date forward for all :D. I assumed that anyway, lol. Anyone wishing to ship early is welcome to also.

Megmama

Hey all...

Gwen, just wanted to let you know that Jodi (Korwynne) and I live very close to eachother, so we'll just give eachother our swap items and save on shipping..also we plan to mail everything together to likewise save on shipping, if that's ok :D So you'll get 5 things each from us for the other folks on the list and not for eachother, make sense?
Thanks!

ETA: Can all of you post your interests a bit? for example, I knit and make bendies..I can make bendies for some of you, send yarn to others, etc. it would be easier if I could get a sense of who you are, you know?

Soggy Granola
07-04-2006, 12:25 PM
Megmama, that's fine! I'm always up for frugal shipping, lol.

As for interests: See post below with kid info too.

Korwynne
07-04-2006, 01:07 PM
actually, make that one less item we'll each be sending to you, Gwen.. we have the rainbow swap that needs to be mailed to Sonya on 8/1 - so I figure we'll throw her stuff in that box as well, if that's okay :) Save shipping all around!

as for my interests.. I'm enamored with bendies at this point and I'm wanting to try felting.. I've got some supplies but haven't been brave enough to try it yet. Took me 2 years of being scared to try bendies, so I'm thinking felting is aways down the road. :) I'm also a very beginning seamstress, and I'm hoping to learn more soon. We're pagan and love things for our altars and anything for our nature table.. Leila's my mermaid baby and I'm collecting mermaid stuff for her.. princess and fairy stuff for Lindsey.. and dragons/gnomes/elves/etc. for Joshua. For myself, I'm collecting anything goddessy and anything mother/child oriented... one of my prized posessions is a felted mother with a baby in a sling.

I'm not quite sure what I'm sending yet.. I've got a couple ideas, but I'm not sure where I'll go from there.. and I'm not sure if everything will be identical or individualized.. it'll come to me eventually. :) I'm fixated on trying to plan my girls' birthday party at the moment - once I get past that, I'll figure this out :)

ooooh ooooooh!!!! I know what I'm making!!! I know what I'm making!!!

:cuc: :cuc: :cuc:

just a wee bit excited because it might actually be a good idea. Just finished (well, mostly finished) one and I'm liking it :D

Gwen, you should have mentioned the need for sz3 dpn's when you were here yesterday. I know you've seen my jars of needles. You know I have spares lol.

Meg, if you don't have a sense of me yet you have to ask questions LOL! I can't think of anything to say about my interests that doesn't make me out to be a loon. :p

Megmama
07-12-2006, 07:59 AM
Dannielle..you I'm not worried about...gotcha covered :D I don't know some of the other folks though :D

Soggy Granola
07-12-2006, 09:12 AM
I gave up on the sock knitting idea for a bit and took that sock yarn back, lol. So, I don't need the needles any more, at least not yet. It's part of my decluttering frenzy and being brutal and all. Nothing not immediately beneficial or sentimentally useful.

Hey Meg, can you be sure to label who all of your swap items are for? That way my tired brain doesn't explode, lol. I think I understand what you are saying, that you are just hand delivering one item and shipping another with someone else (sorry, can't remember who, see what I mean? TIRED BRAIN, lol). Just label them so I throw them in the right box and don't screw it up :D.

Megmama
07-12-2006, 09:16 AM
hehe..good morning tired brain!! Yep, Jodi (Korwynne) and I will ship together as far as I understand. I will definitely label things as they will not be the same for everyone :D I'm sure Jodi will too.

Hugs...have fun waking up :D

Okay, I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to send - can you all post kids, gender, age/size?
I may go a little away from the nature table/bendy genre, if that's okay. I'm on a simple princess/maid dress kick right now.

Megmama

Hi Sonya:

Elijah is 3 and a half, boy, wears mainly 3T
Sophie is nearly 20 months, girl, moving into 2T now

If you wanted to make something for an older child, I have a niece who is turning 6 that is probably getting the rainbow princesses and loves little dolls or anything princessy so we'd love that too :D

Korwynne
07-12-2006, 01:33 PM
Here's my kiddos:

Lindsey - will be 5 on July 31st. We're buying size 5 stuff for her right now - she's got really long legs and sometimes needs a 6 for length, but she's a 4 on top (almost a 5 for arm length, she'll be there with the next growth spurt), so we're splitting the difference and calling it a 5. She loves fairies and princesses and pinks, purples, blues and green. Yellow is actually her favorite color, but with her coloring, she looks horrible in it if it's something to wear. She's got a fairy bedroom and I'm collecting fairy houses for christmas for her to go with the bendies from the rainbow swap :)

Joshua - he's 3 1/2.. in a size 3, but I'm expecting a growth spurt and am buying 4s. Looks best in fall colors.. russets, burnt orange, dark green, gold, etc.. with the auburn hair, those colors are gorgeous on him. Green is his favorite color. Loves knights, dragons, pirates and gnomes. He's got a forest/dragon bedroom and I'm collecting castle and pirate nature table stuff for his birthday.

Leila - will be 1 on July 28th. She's in a 3-6 month, but I'm getting larger stuff for her to grow into. Collecting anything and everything mermaid for her.. clothes, toys, nature table stuff, room decor, whatever.. she's beautiful in oceany type colors - purple, teal, turquoise, green - and peachy pinks and salmony pinks.

Dannielle
07-12-2006, 02:37 PM
Isabelle is 10...will be 11 Aug 9th. She loves purple and blue, tiny things, reading

Mason is 5 1/2. He likes books, building toys, drawing schematics of machines

Ummm...I hadn't even considered the whole nature table/bendy thing. I'm assuming since "anything goes" that's ok. But what I'm planning to make is a mama thing...not a kid thing. Is that ok?

Korwynne
07-12-2006, 02:55 PM
I've got no problem with anything anyone chooses to send :)

Megmama
07-12-2006, 03:30 PM
Dannielle..i think anything is great..it's an anything goes swap after all :D

Soggy Granola
07-12-2006, 07:04 PM
Oh yeah! ANYTHING goes, lol. If it's crafty/sewn/creative, it goes, lol.

Winnie is 5 and loves your usual 5yo stuff, lol. She loves tiny things, bags, mermaids, princesses. I'd love to have an apron for her to wear over her dresses, like Little House on the Prarie, or dresses (a princess/maid dress would ROCK, lol). I'm also looking for little house style bonnets for wearing in the pool (she never puts her face/head in so it probably won't get wet). She's allergic to sunscreen and we have to keep her covered. She could use a rustic/handmade looking fairy house. Shoot, a cardboard one that's painted would suffice, lol.

Finn is 4 and all boy. He likes trucks, trains, wizards, dragons, knights. He would love one of those soft stuffed swords they have at the fancy toy stores for $20 that I always say "I'll make you 4 for that price" but then never do (poor kid, lol). Actually, Winnie would love a girly one of these too. He'd really love a homemade bow and arrows too (not sharp obviously, lol).

I want a pair of "smarty pants" so I can be Arty Smartypants for halloween. I would fly across the country and kiss someone if I got these in the mail ROFL. The fabric to make them would be awesome too. Yarn, of course is always welcome. Soft wool is especially useful. Bamboo knitting needles would rock in any size but 6. I'd love silver/gray, blue, white, sparkly, and earthtone fabric scraps big enough for circles the size of a compact disc or slightly smaller and large wooden beads (garland for my tree sized).

Neall, dh, loves wolves.

Im back and hoping to get started on this swap end of the weekend early part of the week and have it ready to send out on Friday of next week. Im thinking yet about what Ill be sending but I think Ill whip out the sewing machine and use up some fabric and also try something that Ive been wanting to try for well years! lol .... so we shall see but Ill get a package out on Friday :)

Caden is 20mo and I do hold onto things if something were to be meant for an older child - its fine with me.

He has really gotten into kitties/cats, dogs and matchbox type cars lately. loves water, bananas, green grapes lol

Id say pretty much anything goes.

:)

07-30-2006, 11:20 PM

Soggy Granola
07-31-2006, 08:15 AM
Hey all! I'm ready for boxes. Pm me for my address. It'll take me forever on this laptop and dial-up to pm each of you from this thread, lol. Sorry for the inconvenience.

And as for value, I didn't set a value because I didn't want anyone to get caught up in "is it enough"-ness. If you did your best, tried something new, found a hidden talent, or simply created something you would want yourself, then it's enough.

I know Dannielle's thing is adorable. The fairy doors sound wonderful. I wouldn't mind wool yarn for diaper soakers or cotton for dishcloths.

Did I forget to respond to anything?

I was the only one who forgot, far as I know, and I just PMed you. I'm sorry I hadn't gotten around to it yet.

I'm not sure why you haven't sent your items though.. but if there's ever a problem, the coordinator will return your extras to you.

I'll get your item out to you later this week - not sure which day will be our post office day - but it'll be on its way then.

well, went to the post office today, but still don't have an address for lazygrrl. SO.. I'd be happy to send this bendy next time I go to the post office, which will probably be this weekend.. but I can't do it without an address to send it to. Beyond PMing and posting here.. I don't know what else I can do... so I'm going to call it good. It'll go out when I get an address.. and until then.. it won't. :)

Gwen, I could send it to you but it would mean her package would be held up until it arrives... or you can PM me her address when you get it :)

Korwynne
08-21-2006, 11:12 PM
umm, I'd posted before my package even arrived that I'd send directly to you. Whatever though. I've tried for quite awhile to get an address and gotten nothing but ignored. I'll take the above to mean I shouldn't worry about it any longer.

So.. Gwen - I guess that's the status.

I'm sorry, I really thought that Gwen was suggesting that we send our things outside of the swap?? She said I could wait until you sent me the item before I shipped yours~

I've been in and out alot, not really at home for days in a row and like you, its a big deal to get to the post office and I really didn't want you to send me my item when I didn't quite know when I would get to the post office myself.

I am really sorry if I misunderstood.

How were you expecting me to send anything when you've ignored my attempts to get an address from you, out of curiousity?

Doesn't matter to me, at this point, honestly.

If you want to swap, PM me your address.. if you don't, I'm okay with that as well. You said above that you really didn't want me to send something - but some communication from you would have been nice rather than simply ignoring me. Just please tell me what you want one way or another so that I don't continue to worry about it.

Thank you.

Soggy Granola
08-24-2006, 09:09 AM
Lazygirrl, I didn't mean that you shouldn't swap at all with Jodi, I meant you could ship seperately if it would make you feel more comfortable. Could you please PM Jodi and make sure you two are on the same page? I'm confused as well. Also, I emailed you because you said you wouldn't be logging on to Amity in one of your pm's but I've just pm'd you as well. I just wanted to make sure you saw this.

Korwynne
08-24-2006, 11:48 AM
My understanding of it is that because I was forgetful while packing the box and said I'd send directly to her (before the box even arrived!), she's decided to not swap with me. While I think it's wrong to not follow through, I feel I made an effort to rectify my mistake and have done my best to uphold my end of the swap. I'm a bit annoyed at my attempts just being ignored rather than getting a response, but Lindsey will be more than happy to keep the bendy. :)
