and I guess I'm a little nervous. The nice thing is that we're meeting two other couples and their kids up there at 10am. We'll look around a bit, see if the kids want to go into the kids classrooms/toddler room or stay with us and find seats together for the service. I'm hoping to wake Roman up REALLY early so he'll pass out during the message and I can just hold him and listen.

We're going to a Lutheran Church. I have no clue about the Lutheran church honestly. I do like the idea that its got a higher authority vs a self governing body. And the place has SO much going on from the web page

we'll be at the contemporary service. Hoping it will be a nice morning :)

Let us know how it goes! We just moved and there's a church up the street I'd like to try - we haven't been going because we couldn't find one near us we liked.

the Lutheran Church is a liturgical church, though ELCA and a contemporary service may not retain as much liturgy. How was it, Barb?

nods - dh called it "Catholic Lite" lol
It was not our church but it was good to be with friends, hearing Gods word.

This Sunday we're going to this church
http://www.desertsprings.com/index.htm

It was actually on the list of churches to visit when we were seeking our church home 3 years ago and found our old church. They've got VBS and AWANA for the kids, and a "shibberiffic" (per chels) teen ministry per the web page which is pretty important to us - to keep our teen involved and worshipping kwim?

Anyhoo - it seems like it might be more our speed but I'll keep ya posted. Thank you all so much for travelling this road with me. It really does help.

Barb I am glad you had a good time with friends. My dh has a friend who is a pastor in Phoenix at a contemporary styled church, it is in the Litchfield area (I may have butchered that). LMK if you want the name and a weblink to it and I will find it out.

nods Litchfield is about 30 miles from us if I am thinking of the right place - too far to go me thinks.

There are a few other churches on the list , but I have to say this one looks like our style so I'm hoping. One of my friends and her dh are going to stay at the lutheran church we visited - she felt very much at home there and I was happy for her :).

I hate the concept of "church shopping" but hoping we'll just keep our hearts open and will be led to where we're sposed to land

actually I have a friend who goes there and we'll consider checking out their north campus as one of the churches we visit. The main campus is just huge for us. I have a friend who goes there and loves it but it seems way too big for me. We'll go to a service there tho this summer I'm sure unless one of these churches just calls to us first.

That desert church looks like a good possiblity.
I know whatcha mean about the teens. It took about 3 years for our church to have soemthing for the teens. It had been an older folks church for years until young families started flocking the area.
