Ooooh....someone is here! :D

We're not military; although, DH is federal gov.....which still gets a discount on the base golf course! ;P

We're on the East Side....my kiddoes are 7yrs, 6yrs and 5yrs; I'm getting our Grade 2 stuff together. Our first block of the year will be Form Drawing from Nature, and we will be doing a lot of exploring and camping around the area. We went to Heuco Tanks last weekend; Totally Cool...as the huecos were full of water, and we got to see the minnows and fairy shrimp swimming around.

Feel free to contact me off-list to get together...I'll PM you my contact info. :)

Peace,

Kimberly

Ack! I should have called you today! My 7yr old annouced for the first time ever that he 'was bored'. Of course...I told him to sally right up and help me fold some towels....and he immediately thought of something else to occupy his time!

We are soooo ready to start school and get back into some sort of routine. Right now...I'm planning on a 4-Day school week...T,W,Th until 2pm...and then wet on wet painting in the morning on Fridays. I'm hoping to find a park day on fridays (hint!hint!) for us to attend in the afternoons.

I just found a suzuki piano teacher, and she scheduled lessons for us on thursdays after school is over.

Hey all, I've been here about a year and I am just now looking for a piano teacher for my 6 year old son. We have an appointment on Sunday, we hope he turns out well.

Has anyone tried Hal Marcus on Saturdays for Kid's art class?

Hi Barbara!

Good Luck with the piano teacher. We had our first lesson last week; the instructor is a college student that lives over on the West Side. She is teaching the 'Suzuki Method'; but I thought that she was talking quite a bit more than demonstrating. The kids loved it though...and they've been practicing at home. Additionally, she is only charging me 60/mth for all three kiddlets to have a weekly lesson; so I'll give this a shot.

Take Care:waving:

Wow, what an unbelievable deal. The guy that we called up didn't want to talk about the cost until he meets our son. Which probably means "Costs alot". I'll tell you how it went.

I hope that it goes well! If you want to shop around and try the collage student...PM me and I'll pass along her info. She basically charges a dollar a minute; my youngest is 5 and his lesson is 10mins....my daughter is 6 and her lesson is 20mins...and my oldest is 7.5, and his lesson is 30mins. The lessons are in her home.

She offered to teach them theory...but I told her that we're 'waldorf' and I wouldn't be interested in approaching the theory until third grade.

Best of Luck!

Hi Barbara! I am here in EP too and have a 7yo boy. We are a military family and live by WBAMC.

Thanks for the offer Kimberly, we're going to try this guy out. I will shoot an update after Sunday.

Hi Ashley, we're a military family too. My son will turn 7 in November and we're trying to figure out his birthday party. Last year we did it at a pony ranch, which was pretty cool. He doesn't care for that theme again though...lol

We just hate to have it at adventure zone or something, too commercial for our tastes. Any suggestions?

I will be in El Paso in almost exactly 2 months (my flight is nov 14). my baby is only 7 months though. is there a waldorf school there? or is it only a hs thign there?

:waving: Hi!

No Waldorf schools here...the closet one is in Santa Fe, which is 4 or 5 hrs away; although they are supposed to be having a Fall Festival that is open to the public in November. I'm planning on driving up and taking the kiddlets.

To my knowledge...I'm the only Waldorfing Mama in El Paso; but Ashley and other ladies have expressed interest in doing the Waldorf Festivals! So, we can see what develops out of that! ;pot:

There is a homeschool group that is pretty new; El Paso Homeschool. We went out horseback riding with them this week. They are trying to schedule regular park days and field trips and camping trips. So, at least there is homeschool community around!

Bright Blessings!

I dont know if I have the patience to homeschool. But I was looking into waldorf... of course this all has a while since our daughter is only 7 months now :D

where I was living in ohio there was a waldorf preschool (and maybe k?). they were trying to raise money to bulid a school up to 8th grade I think. I also think there was a montisori school. I think thats the preschool I went to......

Oh Cool! Have you seen David Darcy's blog? I can't remember the addy right now. He is/was a teacher at the Austin Waldorf School, and he has worked with several inititives to get them on their feet. In fact...the Waldorf Co-op to which I belonged in Fort Worth had a goal of becoming a school...and the 'head mama' worked with David quite a bit.

Anyway...homeschooling is my dream; so I'm not gung-ho to put in the hours required for a school to come together. However...I would :hbeat: if we had enough Waldorf community here to build a school as I think that it would benefit everyone.

I'm PM you my phone number....once you get here and get established...maybe we can start up a study group?? Or even a Folk Art School to explore crafts and such in community?

Bright Blessings!

Oh yeah Kimberly - I am ALL for the Waldorf activities. You see I am ecclectic and can do that!!

(how is your leg and what did the doc say?)

holistic_mama

Oh Thanks for asking about my leg...I went to the specialist today...and he seemed to think that I am improving:drop: The problem is that he sees me first thing in the morning before it is swollen and purple. I told him about the swelling and such; so he is sending me for another round of testing on Monday. :wah:

This is Soooo messing around with the awesome form drawing block that I laid out for this month!! :smirk:

I'll let you know how it goes. If I can locate my registration...then I'll join you all at the park tomorrow.

Blessings!
