I met Lauren a couple of years ago when I saw her standing on the porch of our co-op w/ her naked baby. Of course I *had* to go talk to someone with a fat little naked baby.
I'm so excited that she's accomplished this, I know she and her husband worked really hard at it.

it is so gorgeous and their lifestyle is fantastic. My only little question mark is the cooking with baby alongside in the sling. I know it is not recommended but I don't know if a baby has actually been burned or otherwise injured by it. I admit to having done it myself, so I am not preaching, just curious if anyone knows more about the issue. Thanks for sharing that! -Josie

Yeah, not sure about that. I think it is one of those 'do what I say, not what I do' things. ;)
I know I cook w/ baby in the sling too. They are very hardcore AP. They're really interesting people to talk to. I really admire how they share the parenting responsibilities.

This really struck me too! It seems like they have attachment parenting down to an art, where around here sometimes its just attachment mommy-ing. If my kids were still nursing we would get this one!

Neat book - my only thought is no "Mommy" or "Daddy" anywhere?

I love that book! Thanks for sharing. I've often thought about the utter lack of AP childrens books available. It's definitely an untapped niche.

Love the book. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I also love how it did the Lauren and Jason thing. We have a friend whose children use their first names and of course mommy and daddy as well..but they like to think keeping all identies is important.

Nice pictures. I have a nursing toddler, but our lifestyle is quite different. I'd like to buy it though. Nate would love it. Maybe I could pose for pics in a book about the soccer/pta/minivan driving mom who nurses a toddler, lol! Thanks for sharing the link.
Wow. That book was done in Potsdam, NY. I was born there almost 31 years ago. Cool! I nursed in Potsdam for more than two years. ;)

LOL, I had the exact same thought. While that book is beautiful, that family totally fits the stereotype of who nurses past 1 yr - earth, loving hippies, no car, living off the land, etc etc. Not that there is anything wrong with that! But while i was rocking DD to sleep I was trying to visualize a picture book that showed all kinds of mamas nursing all kinds of kids - from the working and pumping mama in NYC to the tandem nurser in suburbia.

Wow, Liba! Amazing what a small world it is. I live only 20 minutes from Potsdam, Lydia and Levi were both born there. do you ever get back here?

I used to. It has been well over a decade. We had friends who owned a dairy farm and we used to visit them in the summer. My older brother worked on their farm for a summer when he was in high school.
My father was the CFO at the hospital in Potsdam way back when. It really is a small world, eh?

What a great idea about donating it. I wonder if the library here would even take it. Probably have some "decency" thing they would cite. I might have to try that. If not I suppose it could go to the LLL library.

Beautiful book! I bought Maggie's Weaning back when I was nursing Xine for a "nursing toddler" book, but I like this one better. The pictures are better, clearer.
