Thought I'd post this...I'm finally getting to the stuff I wanted to get to all week.

Decluttered the "mud room" - the foyer/hallway when you first come in. Put away clean winter gear, and have a basket of snow pants and parkas to wash then store.

Decluttered the living room - we had four boxes of kids' toys and books and miscellaneous stuff that Katie dragged upstairs!

I am also washing dishes and catching up on laundry in between.

My plans for the rest of the day:

declutter the "backpack area" and kitchen table - lots of stuff comes in here that needs to be sorted

declutter the paperwork that's currently in piles on the living room floor

finish putting stuff away from hallway decluttering

gather library books and videos to return this week

And the biggest task: sort through the kids' toys, totally decluttering them and organizing/packing things for the move, as most toys that are out on shelves now will go into plastic bins on utility shelves.

I honestly don't know if I will get through all of this today, as I have to go over to the new house at some point and help dh with the bathroom. If I don't, I will have to put decluttering on hold until I tile the bathroom...it is hard for me to multitask like this! Sigh. But I'm happy it is all getting done.

I really want to involve the kids in the toy decluttering, so I am going to tackle that as soon as I put away all the stuff that didn't belong in the hallway.

It took me two days, but I cleaned out the kids cubbies and put the winter things way (yeah!) and sent some to rummage and Goodwill. Today I am (supposed to be) cleaning out my patio, coverd porch area, and getting my garden beds in. I am taking pix, which I hope I can figure out how to post soon. ;)

I'm a longtime lurker in this forum. I think I need to start participating more often. I am looking at (another) move, 4 weeks from now, and I have some work to do in the decluttering department. I did a great job 7 months ago and got rid of about 1/3 of our belongings. That felt very good. It was all stuff that we didn't need and we all felt lighter to get rid of it.

The things I need to work on now are mostly in the arena of random papers. I have piles of them on top of, underneath, inside, and around my sewing/computer area. I don't want to pack them into boxes and move them. I know there are some important/timely papers in there! So that is the area I plan to work on this week.

Today we got quite a bit done, not all of it decluttering though.

I packed 4 boxes to ship and took 3 to the UPS counter. That means they aren't in my bedroom! The other needs a mistake fixed and will go to the USPS tomorrow.

I washed the bathroom curtains. Now I need to iron and rehang them.

We ran errands, all trips planned out to minimize driving. We went to Office Depot (combined shipping with buying binder rings we need for homeschooling this week), Von's (6 cans Dole pineapple for $4, plus $1 off our next shopping trip), DSW (bought a pair of much-needed Ryka's on sale), Michael's (scouted ready-to-decorate frames but frames and embellishments are out of our budget), Barnes and Noble (looked at Tangrams book I was going to order from Amazon but decided against it), Kmart (total dud stop - they were out of the containers we needed), and the grocery store.

Yesterday we:

Decluttered the master bedroom (DH didn't do his clothing though), and deep cleaned it from top to bottom (except carpets, which we will clean once the other room with carpeting is deep cleaned).

Super deep cleaned the front bathroom.

Gave the master bathroom a good cleaning (not quite deep, but much more than an average cleaning).

Took 5 bags of stuff and a vacuum cleaner to Goodwill.

Cleaned the hall baseboards.

This week I will declutter the kitchen and pantry, and we will deep clean the breakfast nook.
