Besides regrouting of course!!:rainbow:

We have really really tight grout lines and they weren't sealed. I've bleached them, but don't get great results.
Any secret would be appreciated!!

I had good luck at our last house making a paste from Comet & water (yeah, bleach) and letting it sit on the tiles for a while, some of it even dried before I got back to it. Then I wet it down and scrubbed with a nail brush, the bristles are pretty stiff & it really did the trick.

do they need to be white? could you stain them a color so they all were the same color??

Clorox bleach pen, let that sit for a while, then scrub with an old toothbrush.

I've had good success with Tilex and a toothbrush. It's tedious but it works.

My mother used to make me scrub every inch of grout with comet and a toothbrush. I vowed that when I crew up I would NEVER have tile floors.

But it did work.

I've tried one other thing. Just don't look at it. Pretend it's white and hope for the best.

That's my plan!

soft scrub with bleach, let it sit for a while and then scrub with a scrubbie sponge or brush. we have white tile counters in the kitchen...trust me, it works.

i *love* soft scrub with bleach. i'm not the cruchiest cleaner...

I'll second this. I am crunchy when it comes to cleaning, EXCEPT with grout and stains on the kitchen counter. Soft scrub with bleach (I usually buy the store brand at our grocery) works wonders!

My sil used some kind of acid which horrifies me.

Nanci we are in the home stretch! I spent my spring break going through all our *stuff*. When are you leaving CA? I'll actually be spending about 10 days in CA before we go.

Clorox Gel Cleaner w/Bleach and let sit. Cheaper than bleach pen if you have a lot. :D

Shark steamer/steam machine if you know someone that has one. It worked wonders on the grout in our old house.

My trick is WARPED but works magic.

automatic dishwasher gel detergent. Smear it on, let sit for 1 hour, use a brush and gently scrub off.

DS had one of those bath/ soap crayons. Green. Coloured ALL the grout in the tub one day while DH was 'watching' him. Ya... took over a month to get it off and finally one day someone said "dishwasher gel w/ bleach action" and wow! it works!

Well, this is something crunchy:

I would seal those tiles asap if you can. I know it's a PITA, but it's so necessary.

My Father In Law accidently spilled vinegar on their tile while mixing Easter Egg dyes. My MIL was so excited how it cleaned up her grout that she spent the rest of the day pouring vinegar on the rest of the counter tops... worth a try!

I used Magic Erasers on the grout of my floor tiles in the kitchen and it worked great! Got rid of 7 years worth of the previous owner's crud!

I have good results with borax. Make a paste with borax and white vinegar, let it sit for awhile (I let it sit until just as it starts to dry out) and scrub with a stiff bristle brush. I also use borax to clean tomato sauce and other stains from my plastic food containers, and in my laundry instead of bleach and as a stain spot pre-treater. Its great stuff.

I always used to use OxyClean and a scrub brush. Tedious and not fun at all, but worked like a charm.

I just did this before the home tour last month. Basically, I dumped bleach all over the floor, let it sit for an hour or so (open the windows!) and then wiped it up with a big towel. It didn't take much effort on my part (no real scrubbing) and I got to smell bleach (a favorite smell) for days!

and this would be why I went with gray grout when we put in our white bathroom tile.

Which reminds me: In our last house we painted the grout gray when we redid the bathroom. There is this special grout stuff that paints and seals at one time. I think there were only 5 or so colors, but it worked really well!

I use soft scrub with bleach on my kitchen counters (cobalt blue tile with white grout) and it works well.

What I really have given up on is the white tile/grout BATHROOM FLOOR! They were just nutty on that one.

Do you have a link to this stuff? That is what I need! My upstairs bath has grey grout but the downstairs has white.

I think this is the brand we used:
Aqua Mix - For Home Use - Product Detail - Stains/Colorants - Grout Colorant (http://www.aquamix.com/products/pg_detail.asp?pdid=25042&pgid=8374)

And here's an article about it:
Grout Colorant - Paint your dingy stained tile grout to restore and beautify your tile floor from the Natural Handyman do it yourself and home repair website (http://www.naturalhandyman.com/iip/infxtra/infgroutcolorant.html)

There are grout color changing pens either at home depot or menards. I work in construction and jsut used some on a clients floor. She had the tile put in and picked out the grout, she decided it was too light for the entry way, I went to menards and they had some. It worked great and it's easy to do. (I love working non traditional jobs!) Also they are fairly cheap.

I got a shark steam cleaner on Overstock in February and it made my grout look brand new again. I haven't done my whole floor yet because its LOUD and scares Jonas. But it worked awesome!
