I'm trying to decide for fall.

I have most of Rod and Staff Reading/Phonics Grade 1 program. I would just need a couple of workbooks. My concern is that it may go to fast and have too much writing.

The other route would be Explode the code 1-3 combined with phonics pathways and bob books. I also have tons of readers for 1-2nd grade. I own phonics pathways and all the bob books. I would just need to get the ETC books.

I don't mind the religious content of Rod and Staff. Both would cost the same for me. I just can't make up my mind. WHat would you do?

we're in ETC 3 now, i've not seen the R&S books though. i do actively try to avoid religious material however, so that would play into my choices, yk?

we've used k12's phonicsworks, BOB, reading reflex, 100EZ lessons...and honestly the only thing i've found that has worked for *my* child has been ETC, together with starfall.com and more recently studydog.com.

good luck!

The thing about R&S is that it is very thorough. Just like their other texts, it is easy to follow and teacher friendly. I like both, that's the problem.
