The info I am gathering is that it is mostly oxygenated Magnesium hydroxide and shoudl be perfectly safe.
A cotton ball or cloth with some under the pits is all I have been doing.

Been using it for a week-working very very hard and no smell and still sweating.

I am so happy to try this but want to be sure if it is perfectly safe.
Anyone know if there is any research I have not found yet?

oh, my gosh, how funny! milk of magnesia-- what is this? is it a brand name product, or a more general basic product? is it flavored?

That's great! I'll look into that, too. I haven't used store bought deoderant or anti-perspirant in years, but I make lots of herbal salves from things I either grow or pick wild. Several have great anti-microbial properties that I have used with satisfaction. Wormwood salve is my favorite, but doesn't grow wild where we live now. I have some seeds and will plant some this year, though. Also, cottonwood (Balm of Gilead) works great, but can be irritating to some people. I've never had a problem with it though. Theoretically, honey should work great, but sure would be sticky. On the salves, there are lots more that would work. Just put a little on your finger and rub in well. I wait a few minutes before getting dressed so it will soak in and not stain clothes. Didn't mean to get off subject. Just some other ideas. I like using things I don't have to buy.

I was going to say this! I rinse it off, because it can be drying. But a few minutes of it as a mask is great! It's also amazing on sore pimples. Takes the swelling right down. I've used it on a couple of zits for my teen. In the morning, it's practicaly gone. Works fast!

Hmm. . . I'll be watching this thread. I'm looking for an alternative, but for me, spring and summer is the wrong time of year to mess with this particular area, lol.

My initial thought - if it doesn't stain clothes - how much worse could it be than regular deoderant? After all, MOM is approved to take internally ;)

Just to throw a few more out there. . . I used to use Baking Soda and a cosmetic brush - but it stopped working for me in pregnancy, and I have not tried again.

A friend uses straight rubbing alcohol in a spritz bottle, she never smells, but she carries it in her purse in the summer and re-applys in the ladies room wherever she is. I have too many kids with me at all times to feel easy-breesy about that. She never smells, though, I promise. :flowerkit

Currently shaving at the moment becuase while nursing I have been so hot. Seems to cool me down a bit ;) but I bet it woudl work fine.

It does not stain clothes as it is a white milky substance that you dab on with a cloth or cotton ball or fingers woudl work. It kinda dries clear as far as I can tell. I have not had white build up or anything.

I am out of town this week. Been using dh Speed stick and teh MOM works WAY WAY BETTER for me.
And it is reasonable.
