I lurk here a fair bit but haven't been posting so I thought I'd re-intro myself.
I HS'd my 10yo daughter for two years through a public charter when we were in CA. (After K-2 in a private school.) We had classroom-type textbooks for 3rd grade (from the charter) and Calvert (my choice) for 4th and didn't care for either approach. We enrolled her in public school for 5th but decided to return to home-education after the first semester.
We decided to try AZVA and we got K12. That's not working for us either. It's making us miserable, actually.
So we've decided to withdraw and go independent. I love researching materials, etc. so I'm doing that now. Of course it's overwhelming as always but very fun! :D For the first time I can't really spend a lot, so I am going to try and work with what I have (I have tons of stuff we haven't used yet) and add some supplemental things as well.
My son is still in all-day public K because he loves it, but I want to homeschool him again for first grade. I homeschooled him at home for pre-K and he's a very easy student (my dd is more of a challenge).
There's a great enrichment center near where we will be moving where the kids can take all sorts of really neat classes--anywhere from 2 half days a week to three full days a week, so I am looking forward to trying that as well next year!
That's our current story, LOL!
