Hunter is in 2nd grade and this year has been trying. Some of it may be new baby and trying to fit her into our homeschool routine but a lot has to do with his need to always be right. He hates the one on one aspect. He loves computers. This week I was at my wits end with the fits and tantrums so I put him on the computer using a educational cd-rom. He sat there happily working for 4hours! He retained more and actually enjoyed it. I think some of his dislikes of one on one teaching have to do with some AS aspects and wonder it I should fight it or let him learn in the least stressful way. I want to research online cirriculums but I wanted some reviews and opinions...Its hard to get a good idea off thier websites since they are all so self promoting. Hunter is quite bright in math, science and comprehension but art and creativity are elusive to him. We have been using Oak Meadow and although I like it for another child, it couldn't be more wrong for Hunter. The focus is for lots of parental input and art together...These things infuriate Hunter. Asking him to draw a picture causes a meltdown but he will happily do math problems all day long. Any advice will be appreciated!

"Switched on Schoolhouse" (SOS) is a computer based program. We tried it for 3rd grade and liked it. I much prefer workbooks though, so we can take them wherever, and the kids can do their homework laying in their beds, or on the floor, so we're back to doing Abeka. My brother uses SOS for all of his kids and loves it. It's fairly reading intensive though. Your little one would need to be able to read through paragraphs explaining the new information before he could work the problems. But if he is a good reader and self-motivated he might love it.

My ds learns so well through educational computer games too, lots of times better than if I sat down with him and tried to teach him the same thing!
The only one I know of is the same one that Charity posted, SOS. It doesn't start until 3rd grade though. There are also a lot of negative reviews of it here: http://www.homeschoolreviews.com/reviews/curriculum/reviews.aspx?id=339
I have just been checking out different cd-roms from our library ~ they have a few different math and reading ones. Hoping to hear some more suggestions.:)
