has anyone here worked with karakul wool before? and straight from the sheep? my dh's aunt/uncle has this breed and the wool is awesome looking, very pretty colors. i just would love to figure out how to work with it. i had raw before but never used it myself, gave it to someone else. but this is really different...:) anyways just wondering~

IIRC its not really a wool, but more like a hair. Coarser too. It might be good for twine and it may not felt well.

I've had a Karakul batt before, and I loved it. I spun it with a drop spindle and plied it since I'd never done it before and wanted the experience. It made a lovely, wild curly many for a felt horse. I think I have a pic somewhere...
