We are doing some financial planning and I need to get four charities which we will focus on. One for me, one for DH (though I know that will be Habitat), and one for each of the kids. So, I have a few in mind, but I want to hear your favorites.

My dd2 is doing a mathathon through her school to raise money for St. Jude's. I'm so proud. She's already raised $90!
I like Marion Medical Mission. They're based in Marion IL and help villagers in Malawi Africa build wells for safe drinking water. They also establish schools and provide help where they can.

We buy as much as we can at the habitat for Humanity store and dh is going to volunteer as a worker. They ahve asked him to do some projects, but not exactly sure what they are having him do.

the local children's hospital
St. Jude Children's Hospital
CASA (court appointed special advocates - helping children in abusive families - we buy their Christmas cards every year and their pins, plus "adopt" the kids over the holidays and buy them gifts)
American Cancer Society (we do this instead of Komen, quite deliberately - but I won't go into it here)

We donate to the American Cancer Society in honor of me....I have been in remission for 13 years, and the Make A Wish foundation, and we donate to the March of Dimes.
We also donate to the AIDS Foundation...in memory of my Dad...he died a year ago in April.
