View Full Version : Spring Equinox/Ostara swap for kids ~ MATCHES IN OP!
Amethyst

This one will have to be quick since the Equinox is creeping up on us! Lets make this for all kids of any age. Each child makes a card alone or with help for their swap partner and sends their partner either something they made or a small gift worth $5.00 or less. No need to post lists. Just post here if your in and for how many children! I will pair everyone up on March 6th :) Packages will need to go out no later than March 13th.
OK, here goes. :) Each pair sends to eachother. Please check with your partners to make sure there are no allergies, etc. Have fun!

can we post a general likes/dislikes/fav. colors/etc? I'd hate to send something pink for a child only to discover they hate pink.. or plastic to a child whose family is plastic free.. or something they're allergic to, etc. :)

I was thinking that once we all had partners, we could work those details out with them. :) Would that work?

Marisa has been wanting mail lately, and I think would enjoy making a card and sending a gift to someone, so I'll sign her up.
dd - 5 years
But could someone explain Equinox/Ostara for me? What type of cards and gifts are we suppose to be sending?

The equinox is the first day of spring.. the days are getting longer, things are beginning to grow and its starting to get warmer. Ostara is basically Easter, without the religious aspects.. bunnies, lambs, chicks, eggs.. new life, springtimey colors, etc.
Some thoughts I had.. outdoor play stuff (chalk, jumprope, etc), gardening stuff (kid sized tools, gloves, seeds, the little starter kits for herbs or whatever).. spring/summer clothing (dye or embellish a shirt maybe or a pair of shorts.. or pass on a favorite outgrown outfit).. things for Ostara baskets (playsilks, craft kits, small animals).. springtime stuff for nature tables..
hope maybe that helps?

Great response!!! :) Gonna go ahead and close this and I'll post matches by tomorrow morning. I'm going to match by age of child instead of by family. I hope that's not an inconvenience, but I think it will be much more fun for the kids that way. The packages should be small and not too much to ship, though. :)

Well, this wasn't too hard. LOL! The only problem I have is that I'm left with 6 month old girl and one 8 year old girl (craftymom's and healingpixie's). Is there someone who wants to do 2 packages, or would these girls like to send to eachother? Healingpixie, do you think your girlie would enjoy making something for a babe? :) (I was a baby FREAK at 8. LOL!)
Korwynne
03-06-2006, 07:31 PM
my babe could send a 2nd pkg if need be :) And I'm sure Lindsey could send to a big girl if you want.. she's into altar stuff and crystals and nature, etc..
HealingPixie

Of course she would LOVE LOVE LOVE making a package for a baby. She too is babe freak..she can't stand having to wait for us to concieve. This would be very good for her.

All of our packages are packed up and ready to go out tomorrow (at the last minute!). I hope they arrive all in one piece. I tried to pack them carefully. Keep in mind, for Jonah and Annie that they made theirs themselves. :smirk: I made Josephine's, so her partner may be able to identify hers a little quicker. LOL!

We received 3 of the 4 kids packages so far and I was trying to make them wait until they each received theirs but I couldn't keep them at bay any longer. Sorry for not posting sooner, sooo with no further delay...
dannielle ~ Ash and Levi both :hbeat: their packages...perfect for both of them. I believe dd is writing to Isabelle as I type :) :chick: are holding a very special place in their hearts :) They both hope your two liked their packages as much :)
jeanbean ~ so glad Liam received his package...Luke received his too and loved planting his own tomato :) He is now asking when he can eat it lol.
maegansmama ~ glad that Joey received his package too :) I just saw your post that you sent Lee's on Sat we are still watching the mailbox for his.

I'm hoping my package got to Maegansmama okay. I mailed it on the 20th so I'd think it should be there soon. And she said she mailed hers on the 19th and we haven't gotton it yet either. Sometimes the post office is frustrating.
Missa initially wasn't thrilled about the fact we were buying things that weren't for her, LOL, but then she got into it and help choose. She's checking the mail daily for her box, though. So excited!

Oh no! We mailed it the same day we mailed Jonah's package. To be honest, I have no idea where the DC# is, but I did put it on. I am on vacation right now, but I will get a new package in the mail as soon as I get back (Friday), and find the # to see if we can't track the other down.
I am so sorry! I will get you a package for him no matter what!
And we got his and loved it! The egg looked fabulous, and Joey loved the shaker. Thank you again!

Hi
I'm glad the package got there and you liked it.
Again, I am truely sorry. I know in the big shceme of things this is kindof minor, but it was major for your daughter I'm sure. I hate to dissapoint anyone, especially children, and when I became behind, I froze. And then I felt ashamed and diappeared from Amity. But I never forgot. I did not start any new projects until all old ones were completed.
Just another note, I have been late, but never this bad and I have never had bad feedback(I sooo do not blame you, I would have left bad feedback, I was bad)
Anyhoo, thanks for posting you received the package.
:D
