I have been to travelocity several times, but I was wondering what you guys have had the best experience with. My in-laws are pressuring us again to start looking at airline tickets for this summer and I guess we should.. (hey, its their buck..) where should I look, especially for international travel.

Right now I am looking and hotwire has the best deals for about 2 weeks in advance, its their clearance tickets, as they still have seats aval. on the plane, but you dont know times (6am-10pm) until you purchase the tickets...I'm still looking to go to GA, could have been there next week but dh has his brother coming in with his gf and his nephew and gf dd.

Last summer I looked all over online to get a RT ticket from NC to Hawaii and back and the cheapest I could find was $900. I was about to give up, but decided to try one more thing. I called an airline directly and got a RT ticket for $575. From now I'll try calling airlines directly. That was United, by the way.

I check out orbitz, expedia, travelocity and priceline and see who has the best fares between the 3.

I've had great experiences with Expedia, but I agree, you should also check out the airlines directly.

Go to the travel comparison sites (expedia, orbitz, travelocity, hotwire, then find the cheapest one. From there go to that website directly. (example : www.delta.com)
Also the travel comparison sites don't include certain budget airlines like www.jetblue.com and www.flyi.com and www.airtrain.com and www.southwest.com so check those as well.
I don't know much about international travel except for something called consolidated fares. Aparently they are a lot cheaper but it might work like a standby flight? AGain not sure but you might want to look into it.

If they fly in your area, I'd recommend Southwest. Their prices are low, and if you book the tickets in advance and the price goes down, they will credit you the difference if you ask. We saved $300 on 5 tickets that way last year, and we were able to have my SIL and also my brother down for a visit without paying out of pocket! They also only have big planes, which is a plus for me, since I get nervous enough in a bigger plane, and would never ever get into one of those little ones!

For international travel I like mobissimo.com but I usually do try each site I can find, and the airlines directly...it never hurts to shop around.
