"Roar! : A Christian Family Guide to the Chronicles of Narnia" by Heather Kopp
I have my 8 and 9 year old take turns reading one chapter out loud and then we use the guide. For example the first chapter is 16 pages long I think so I had my take turns reading 4 pages at a time.
Other than having a very short bible verse on each chapter in the guide it's not very Christian IMO but since I am a Christian maybe I don't notice it as much as someone else.
The first part of the guide talks about the books and then the author and then it goes book by book chapter by chapter. It includes a few definitions of new words like "Jawing" which means a lot of talking and then discussion topics from the chapter.
We're doing this plus Family Math. My 8 and 9yo are doing keyboarding and my 8yo is learning how to use a sewing machine. My new 6yo is learning to read better. My 2 1/2 yo is in speech therapy so we don't use our previous curriculum (Rod & Staff) anymore. My oldest 2 start a theater performance class at our local community college near the end of this month (3 hours on Saturdays).
Sincerely,
Debra, homeschooling mom of 4
