Lorena -- the cozies would be great. I will see if I can find any egg cups on the wood sites I visit, or on ebay, since I have to try to locate some barns anyway ;) I made all of my eggs today and plan to get little bendy sized paskets for the egg hunt for them, so don't worry about the baskets :)
Kris -- a mat would be awesome. Something with tall grasses so there are places to hide all the eggs. I made everyone a dozen teeny tiny little eggs.
While I was looking through my Easter/Ostara/bunnies curriculum box (yes, I am that anal, lol. I have a large number of rubbermaid tottes in the basement with all of our books, puzzles, games, etc. for each season and holiday and theme!) I found some other goodies that I am goin g to add to this swap. I found some larger bunnies on stakes that you can put into a basket (they are not nature table sized, but I thiought they were cute and I had a lot of them leftover from years ago) and some Easter pencils that you all could put in your kid's baskets as well :) They're too big for the egg stuffer swap so I thought I would add them to this one :)

k, I'll mess around with ,mats a bit
maybe somethign 6x8..I mean they are bendies right so that woudl be a fairly big space to hunt in
Oh an di one day aspire to be that organized..BOnnie you are my hero!
mom2kbeth
01-08-2006, 04:17 PM
I am only that organized out of necessity ... I had a huge storage closet when I was teaching and when I quit, I had thousands (literally) of books and supplies to bring home (see, that was when I had money, lol, I was spendingupwards of $3000 a year out of pocket on my classroom -- now it's all in my basement!) and had to do something so that I could find that one book that Kenna wanted to read, lol!
Plus I really am anal,

Cool! Even though it's not a nature table item in itself, we would use them to make eggs for our nature table :)
Korwynne

that was my thought.. I'd been thinking of making little lambs, but then thought since I need to get together stuff to color eggs maybe others would like it too.
My kids won't eat hard boiled eggs, so we blow out the egg and then dye the shell so they go on the nature table :)

i think bendie would be really hard to do, unless i do them in fimo...hmmm...there's an idea. But i might be nice to have a calla lily or 2 on our table as well
anyone have any preference?

I don't see why they wouldn't dye wood. Maybe just not as dark as they would dye an egg. All of the dyes that I use to dye wool/silk (which also work on eggs) also dye my kitchen table (which is way too many colors at this point to count, lol), so I am guessing that the natural dyes will stain the wood eggs.
And if not, you can always try papier mache eggs or wool eggs! The natural dyes should definitely dye wool eggs.

Oh yeah, I hadn't even thought of wool eggs!! I have plenty of batt that I can felt up. That would be a lot of fun!!!
Paper mache would be fun too but a little daunting (considering the gluey mess that 3 children can create.) Wish you could see my kitchen table after I let 2 of them loose with glitter, glue and other misc craft items to make Valentine's for their homeschool classes. What a glorious crafty mess!! Makes a mama proud!!

i found glass eggs all swirly and pretty from oriental trading (believe it or not) so i ordered them and i was gonna make cozies which i still can - but i just got more magic wool book and inside is a cute little bunny made out of wool roving and the egg sits on his back side. i am gonna make one to see if it looks close to a bunny (its more an illusion of a bunny..kwim?) if it looks too much like 2 knots in wool roving...i'm gonna go with the cozies. i'm not gonna do the egg cups though since i got the eggs

We, I mean I !
I also made felted eggs with wool chicks to hatch out of them. I didn't realize they were supposed to be bendy sized and these are not. They are normal size egg with a little fuzzy chick inside. They are cute. My children are just crazy about them and have been carrying the one they think is theirs around for days, treating it like a baby. Will post some pics when I finish a few more. The beaks and eyes are hard to put on a tiny fuzzy thing!!!

Wax eggs sound fabulous to me. I have 2 little pyromaniacs here, lol.
Tracey - all the items do not have to be bendy sized. Just nature table sized. I like to have a variety - we always have some bendy sized and some regular sized items on our tables. Plus, most of our bendies are fairies, o Kenna likes to mix regular sized items into her fairy house (on her nature table) because the fairies are small anyway and then the regular sized items are at scale...

:eyes: well. hrm.. once again, the cleaning bug struck our house.. and DH threw out stuff like onion skins, not knowing that they had a purpose. I went to get everything boxed and to the post office last night and they were gone.
SO.. I'm making spring journals for the nature table, where you can draw what you see growing, etc. I swear they're going out in either today's mail or tomorrows (depends on if I make it to the PO before they close at 7).
I swear, I'm feeling like the biggest flake in the world. :eyes:
