Heather, when you make some tepees I want to see how you make them. I made one a while ago for k&f and hard #%$&* time with it. I had no idea it could be so hard to make one. I used felt and wooden dowels. So, I assume you have some better idea and I want to see it :D

I'll use dowels for the wood but leather most likely since I have tons of it and DH just told me minutes ago he wants me to stop working at home all together. Anyone mind pink teepees

May I throw my hand in this one too for one spot? What are the "rules" for this swap? How many do I need to send in? I am never sure so I always skip the swaps all together but the things you ladies come up with are so awesome! Let me know. Thank you!

We are at the max cut off that Lorena set up, but we never end up going by those, lol. There are three people wanting to join after the cut off, so that would bring us to 12 people, sending 11 items. You would just post to the thread what you are thinking about making, so that we don't have 9 people making teepees, lol. Make up one of your chosen item for everyone in the swap and send them all off to Lorena/Mcmrymoon on or before the shipping date. Then she will sort everything and call for postage basedon the weight/size of the packages and mail everything out to us individually. We don't usually set monetary values on the swaps, we just usually say to send something that you would enjoy receiving. You can check the other swap threads (and there are ever so many of them, lol!) for some ideas on what we have been sending lately.
Lorena -- when you are around again, lmk if you want to increase the count to 12 so I can update the sticky :)

You know ..I have been thinking...12 seems to be the number that each group usually ends with! But I guess we really should leave that up to the swap hostess...hehehe;)

01-04-2006, 09:33 AM
i went ahead and added the names - i figured we could split it in 2 groups if that is what everyone wants. making 13 will be the most i ever made...so i have to choose my craft carefully!!
i was thinking about canoes again. but not needlefelted ones since i made those for the thanksgiving swap (unless you do want them again) but made out of regular felt. what do you think?
Maegansmama
01-04-2006, 09:34 AM
not to confuse things, but I would only want to do this swap if I was in the NA mini things swap too.
And NA isn't on my top -begging to get in swap list- so I can pass my squeezed in spot to living free :D

What about a medicine bag, or something like that. Maybe made of suede-like material with fringe and some beads? That would be cool to keep our goodies in.

This isn't even a swap I'm in but being the butt-insky I apparently am, here are some more ideas:
Some sort of baby carrier ;)
Corn or another food domesticated by native americans
buffalo
drums
horses
playmat
petroglyphs (ok, that's *really* old but should still count?)
dream catcher
cornhusk doll
blankets (saddle or bedding or otherwise)
kachina doll (if you are comfy with doing that)
canoe
beads or a "kit" for making (and remaking!) a necklace or bracelet
sand art
shields
bowls for preparing food
baskets, baskets, baskets
medicine bag/pouch
quiver/arrows
vegetation
food: berries to pick, fish to catch
feathers or bear claws
arrowheads
(bored yet?)
I'll, uh, be lurking to see what you all end up making :) lol!

Leather/suede is fine with me Kris. Ask Heather - she has awesome leather sources.
Craftymammax5 - if you have yuor heart set on making some kind of bag, then I think the medicine bags would be perfect! Then the kids can use them in their imaginitive play while using the rest of the items. I know we will really not need another storage bag, but medicine bags would be fantastic :)

Thanks to everyone for helping this brain-interupted, pregnant woman to think!! GREAT ideas.
Wendy, I think medicine bags would be AWESOME!!!! My children love that type of thing for carrying small treasures in. That would get a lot of use around here.
Fringe and beads would be awesome!!

Ditto what was posted above. We don't really use storage bags here, but a medicine bag that he could use for imaginative play would rock! Duncan loves to dress up, plus that would be really cool to take out and go out on nature walks with. The kiddos could pretend they were gathering herbs for remedies. :monkeydan
