Anyone have a good place online to get hand carders for wool? I am looking to get some but all the ones I have found are upwards of $50 and I really don't have that kind of cash right now :( Anyone know of a cheaper source? TIA!

well i'll tell you what the parent and child teacher at our waldorf school told me.
Go to a pet store and get a couple dog brushes, they look just liek hand carders and will eb much cheaper.
Now i haev yet to do this so i dont; knwo how it works, but she said they work great and are less than half the price of hand carders

See now I was totally thinking the same thing, but I didn't know if the wool carders were specially designed for wool. My mom had a Great Pyrenese dog and had these huge flat god brushes for her ... and they look exactly like the wool carders I am seening for $50, lol! I think that as soon as it stops snowing I may have to take a trip to the pet store - thanks Kris!!

I've heard the same thing about the dog brushes. I plan on doing it myself one day. :cuc:

I got my handcarders off ebay, but I rarely use them any more. Trish/lazygirl/colors of nature told me about the dog brushes and I have been using them successfully for over a year now. Now if I just would use them more often and actually go through some of my wool . . .
