So what worked for you?
We got Singapore Science recently and Vidura loves it, he didn't click much with Abeka K Science, he was borded with it.
But this one has lots of experiments that he absolutely loves. Problem is we got through half a book every Science lesson, lol. So most likely we'll be done in two weeks.
So any advice for challenging and "durable" science curriculum? we're limited on library time during the winter because of cold (it's an hour and half walk from here)
Any website?
Thank you
Ys,
Radhanuga

What's working for us:
Discover and Do DVD along with the Usborne book. He LOVES it. We do experiments daily. Oh, I also have the Science kit from Sonlight, but hte materials aren't hard to come by, and you can adapt most of them (even with the kit you ahve to come up with materials for every experiment). I want to get the second DVD, but he's still loving the first one, so...
Books with science experiments... he especially has liked this one: http://www.delmarlearning.com/browse_product_detail.aspx?catid=18449&isbn=1401872328&cat1ID=EA&cat2ID=EA24
The experiments are ordered by letter (A--absorption, B--birds, etc) There are several for each letter, and cover lots of areas of science. They are designed for preschoolers and are very experiential, but Erik has enjoyed every one that we've done. (I just now see on the back of the book that they also have Art activities A to Z... Cooking... Math... as well. I might check them out too).
We just got the Real Science 4 Kids prechem--it looks WONDERFUL. I am so excited to start it. It has a great textbook, and then experiments to go along with it. It also teaches a good process for thinking through the experiments. I'm glad Lisa had it for sale and I bought it--I was going to wait, but it's perfect now.
We check out science experiments books from the library every week, too. Mostly he likes to read through those, but sometimes we do experiments in them.
With planets, a huge love of his, we look at this site online a lot--http://www.nineplanets.org/ We also have many, many books about planets.

Do you have TV? DD loves magic school bus. We don't have cable so we bought the dvds because she loves them that much. LOL She has learned A LOT from them and we build on that with activities.
We also have Science Wizardry for Kids. DD loves doing experiments. Plant seeds and learn about the stages of plant life, what is required to grow them, etc. She loves gardening and it makes for a good science lesson. We do quite a bit of birding- watching, feeding, caring- and teach science w/that. Why birds are formed the way they are, how wings work, beak shape.
We do a lot of planet learning, DH loves space. Has Vidura made a model of the planets? Styrofoam balls, paint, string.

my mother has a great book called "learn while you scrub, science in the tub". I've never done any of it with DD as my mom keeps it at her house as their "grandma activity". Here it is on amazon, & supre cheep too.

I do know that there aren't a lot of parts needed for the experiments and they all invole the bath or sink. My DD really loves doing stuff in the tub & since bath time has to happen anyway it is easy to incorporate in the day.
