Every year the leprechauns come here to our house and leave magic gold beans for the kiddos. The beans come with instructions to plant them and let them sit overnight, then check on them in the morning. Overnight I stick little lollipops in the group/dirt where the beans were planted for a little leprechaun magical surprise :) So I will send beans in pouches with instructions and lollipops :)

The next day, lollipops are "growing" where they planed the beans (I am also sending the lollipops) :)

For traps ... I have been doing this for about 10 years now, between my old Kindergarten classes and now my kiddos :) I always give the kids a bunch of things, odds and ends, and lots of string, lol, and see what they come up with. The owner of my school hated me on St Patty's Day because I would let the kids set up these elaborate traps that pretty much took up the entire room, all over the floor, and I would leave them there overnight <gasp>. Kenna's have been far less elaborate, usually some sticks and a string and a cup are all that is invloved in hers ;)

For tiny traps, maybe a matchbox or one of those really small wood chip boxes (I think that's what they are called, they are those really super thin wood ones), or a small round basket, with a toothpick and a piece of string (toothpick to prop the basket up, string to tie to the toothpick) ...

hehehe... little leprechaun traps..that is toooo funny!!!

i did traps and glitter

That will be so cute...This ST.Pats day will be TONS of fun for Lorna..

Last year I did this.... and this year I will too..I go into the bedroom while she is still alseep and leave her a kiss from Lucky the Leprechaun:) I put a tiny shamrock sticker on her cheek;)

I am just really bummed with the outcome of my crafting for this swap, but you are all getting both of my sets anyway!!!

I bought some "beads" and was going to do kits for making bracelets. Yes, I did read that the shamrock bead was 1 1/2" but my brain did not register how BIG that is! I got the large beads today. They are big and honkey and plastic.:shake: I made ornaments out of them that measure about 3" long. My 7yo consultant says they are cute but like I said, they are big and honkey and plastic.

I did order some wool felt to make necklace bags out of (to put the leprechaun's gold in when they find it). The felt is very nice. I ordered some cording to go with it. The color was supposed to be rainbow, but when it came today with the big, honkey beads, it was very bright and not the primary/secondary, etc. colors that the picture showed.

Anyway, just don't kick me out of the swaps because of this one yucky crafting moment.:o Nothing is great, none of it is tiny but it is St. Pat's day related at least.

But yes, the children do see things differently than we do. I am just amazed at what my 7yo comes up with (in her crafting). Can be the most simple thing and she will play with it for hours!!

I'm running a mailin gday late with my lollipops. I got the chocolate and molds this morning (I didn't want to buy the chocolate too early and have them be sitting for too long) and I thought I woul dhave time this afternoon to make them when my ex was here ... but he only stayed a few minutes and I got absolutely nothing done :( So I will make them tonight when the kids go to bed and put them in the mail Monday morning. You could somehow put them in the necklace bags that I made? Maybe take out the beads that I put in there. Those were leftovers from the ornaments so they are not that important. Or just put them in there in addition too. Not sure how big they are, would they get lost? That would save you a few minutes of time. You wouldn't have to make anything else ;). Just a thought....

Yup - just have them plant the seeds and then run out in the morning before they get up and stick the lollipops in the ground where they planted. viola - leprechaun magic ;) Unfortunately it is supposed to snow on friday here so the ground will probably be frozen and we won't be ableto do it outside :( I think we'll plant our magic beans in the house, lol!

We had a lot of fun getting ready for St. Pat's day last night with the swap stuff!!

Setting up traps, planting beans and of course, spreading the "dust" all over the kid's nature table as they set up a place for the Leprechaun to live, once they caught him. using the gorgeous scenes as background and the pots of gold with more glitter on them as a lure to come live there!!

They were soooo excited to find the suckers this morning and had them for breakfast!!
The also found coins that the little red-haired rascal left in the traps.

Kenna set up her traps last night before bed. I put the beans in the trap for when she woke up this morning and she was so excited to find them! We are going to plant them in a pot today and see what happens. Apparently I forgot to make pops for my own kids, lol, so hopefully i have enough chocolate left to make them tonight ;) The kids have been sneaking it lately, but I am hoping that there are enough pieces left to make 2 more pops. Otherwise, they are getting a jar of coins in the morning, which they will love just the same :)

Kenna has a section of her table set up with all the leprechaun stuff as well. And Holden is now saying "lep con trap!" and setting up various bloacks and other items all over the house ;)

Lorna woke up to suckers too:) She loved it! Oh..and her trap was set off..but no little man in green..just a dollar..:lol:

Yes, mine was in with the Lily for the Easter swap. My children LOOOOOOVED them!! They were part of the scene to try to lure the Leprechaun to live at our house!! Sorry, I didnt' mention that before, I was in a rush to get to Wally world, blech!!
