Canopic jars ... so cool yet so disgusting at the same time, lol!

When Kenna was just turning 3, she became obsessed with ancient Egypt. We watched Cleopatra documentaries, visited the Egyptian room at the local natura l history musem over and over ... we made a large pyramid, I wrapped her in toilet paper many times to be a mummy, have a picture of her in a sarcophogus ... at the museum gift shop one day she found this make your own mummy kit and had to get it. Her favorite part was removing the organs to put inside the canopic jars. She thought it was the coolest thing ever, lol! Thankfully the organs were only made of plastic ;)

hehehe..Lorna is a bit like this too. I am hoping to find little jars that open..to put fimo shaped organs in them..was going to keep that part a surprise ..buuuttt....LOL! 4 for each mama signed up should work I thought..

I wanted to try Anubis...he is one of my favs along with Bast..but I just cannot think of way to do the heads...LOL. Why I chose the Canopic jars instead;)

...I would love to make the columns with the heiroglyphics on them, this famous egyptian place escapes me only that it is further south down the nile, it's like several rows of colums, then a hall or building

another idea is to make a nile river, their boats, the shpinx (forgive my spelling tonight), a thrown, the flower that's used there...irises?? lilies?? not sure, lol

Bonnie, that is soo cool! DS and I did 3+ months on egypt with TWTM before there was a SOTW, we traced his body on craft paper, then made a scarcophagus outline with that and used gold paint and found out how to spell his name in heiroglyphics, then he had it on his door for months, we also made tons of pyramids, paper ones, lego ones, sugar cube ones, and we mummified a chicken too, the c.jars we made weren't really usable, but fun anyway :D,

I was doign fimo stuff and JAden got all excited and did Cat headed staffs for the swap, she is really excited that you guys will get one of her creations

they are cute, just rememeber when you see them she is 6;)

I think I'll do scarabs. I'm an idiot lol. My Grams old bosses used to travel all over the world and brought back gifts for the secretaries each time. When I was in high school my sister and I got to choose the country we wanted and I got an egyptian princess necklace and scarab necklace from Egypt.

is anybody doing the scales for the Judgement of the Heart? thats a story I tell the kids and would love to have the props for it so if no one is doing that I might switch my backdrop to scales instead. Bendie sized, right?

OK--thanks. I found an Egyptian Fimo mold that has scarabs, eye of horus and such in it so I may try and add those to my backdrop offering. Found some great backdrops and such on-line ready to print. Anybody object to that instead of handstamped?
