I just wanted to let people know that fairies have wonderful homes in window boxes and smaller "establishments". You don''t have to have a big yard to lure the fairies!

Was wondering about something,I love baby fairies, but I cannot find where I can purchase the wings.I was thinking of buying some molds to make baby fairies and bigger fairies.I have been wanting to buy some for my girls but they are too expensive each so Id rather make them.I just have to get any info I can find on what supplies I need to make them.Anywho how about naked baby fairies for the swap?

I use photobucket.com for my pics, and in there above each photo there is a button for "edit". Then I click on resize the pic to 25% and save it. Then they don't take up half a page, lol! It took me forever to figure out how to resize them ... it always drove me crazy!

There is a link someplace that tells you how to make a little baby fairy. Did you see that yet? You just buy the skin tone sculpey and they are super cute.

For this type of swap if you send in 10 items you will get 10 back. You don't have to send in 10 babies either - you can send in 5 babies and 5 of something else or whatever number you are chosing to send.

there are 19 on the list, 13 mama's with 6 doubles.
I just ordered some kanji rubber stamps, I plan on doing sets of 6 or 8, but not sure if I should use sculpty or some other clay, sculpty is $$$. The stones will be 1x1 I am figuring, but will know more when my stamps come in :D
mom2kbeth
01-14-2006, 05:28 PM
Stacey -- Sculpey is expensive (though less expensive than Fimo!) but it actually goes quite a long way. If you saw the clay mats I did for the peaceful winter swap (the iceberg with the penguin and seal) or the fun in the sun swap (the sandy beaches), they each took 1/4 - 1/3 bar of Sculpey for each color. If you are doing 1x1" stepping stones, you should be able to get quite a bunch out of a single bar of sculpey. And if you just buy white then you can always paint them whatever color you want to afterwards.
Stampign on Sculpey is on my list of things to try for an upcoming swap. Just haven't figured out which swap yet, lol!

I use Fimo and it really does go a long way:)
I am making fairy and wizard money for the kids pouches in the wizard swap using Fimo with a stamped image. I am still debating on what to use to make it look more aged...thinking those powders you just brush on...maybe..lol.

Ok here is the babies so far.Yes it looks messy, but they just dried and now I have to find the brown paint for the hair and still do not know how to do the eyes yet.So I will see.I will start making the blankets to swadle them in and they will look cute.I promise.LOL http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d38/madebyasahmto5/craftstuff/bellanurnur030.jpg

Thanks, Rebecca. I went back and read the OP too (guess I should have done that first) but the tools I saw really were calling my name and I can try to come up with something else to go along with it (when I get to thinking more about this swap).
Anyway, do we have an update on the #s for this swap? with Heather and Anji dropping out not sure if anyone stepped in those spots.
Thanks again!!

Hmmm..not sure on the final count..but we send in our items like the Stocking Stuffer swap..i.e. I am making 5-10 benches..and at least 10 birdbaths...So I will get at least those amounts back for the two spots I am making them for. Did that make sense? I have had a rough week..and yes..I know it's only Monday..

Yeah, it makes a bit of sense but I still don't get it. Say you make 8 benches, how is it decided which 8 people get them? I am sure it is not as complicated as my mind is making it but I have not done one like this yet, so I just don't "see" it and being very visual, I have to see it to understand."sigh"
Since I am not doing anything elaborate, I could make for all the people so I am guessing I would get 1 of each thing?
Sorry you are having a rough week. Mine is pretty intense too and I was hoping to call you and just gush about the package I got today:hbeat: :hbeat: :hbeat:

okay the swap will work exactly like the stocking stuffer swap or the upcoming ostara/easter stuffers swap
If you send 10 items, you will get 10 back, if you send 20 same thing, If you send one for every person in the swap, you may still not get 1 of everythign, i for instance am makign somethign for each child i have (not sure on totals yet) but I may break it down into 4 different things...since i have a few ideas,
am i makign sense? its late and its been a long day here too...
lets say there are 25 spots, and people send 45 different things, because they send 5 of one, 5 of another, 10 of somethign eles.
I will devide it up randomly. as random as i can
hope that makes sense

we got our birthday things today too rebecca. we set up both nature tables again (seriously, this is a daily thing now, lol) and we have the most random set up on kenna's table right now! She did hers all herself; I'll have to post pics in the AM when I can see straight. But she has the fairy house I made at Heather's, with a rainbow silk on top, on the top floor the root children I made last year are having a birthday party with Kenna's half of the birthday tiny things items. The other 2 floors are empty. The pagoda, that also came today, is in front of the table, with the table and chairs from the V day swap, and the gnome from peaceful winter and the Chinese bendy girl are having a romantic dinner with the items from geogirl. So she has this birthday/Chinese New Year/Fairy/Valentine's Day theme going on and it's really funny! Oh yeah, and the pagoda has the patry sign strung up across the front of it!
Holden and I worked on his and he has some deer and a snowman wearing the birthday crownswith bowls of ice cream and cakes. There is confetti and the insta snow everywhere, all over the table. And he has the gnome house with the birthday banner on it, but no top because he thinks that otpis his hat. He always wears his hat when he plays with his nature table. And he has a bunch of rabbits in th ebig white cave, and his obligatory birdhouse that he stuffs with all the tiny things and stones that he can get his hands on

Ya'll are all so creative. With my third trimester preggo brain over here, it is a good thing I already had ideas for the current swaps.
I just cannot think straight to do much of anything but function.
After baby comes and I get my brain back, I know the creativity will come back and I will have good ideas again.
til then, I hope you all will just keep them coming so I can feed off them and just copy :p . Pathetic, huh?
To be On topic, I love the mosaic paitos idea and the ponds and wishing wells. I was thinking of doing wells for the gnome swap but will do bridges instead.
Bonnies, thanks for sharing your nature table adventures. Sounds like my kiddos to a T!!! It is all relevent in the Nature table world.

Please dont' anyone not make wells because i am thinking of it, my idea may not work so i woudl hate for anyone to miss out on anythign wonderful
I'll go ahead and do the mosaic square, how big? any ideas? I'm thinking 10 x10 or 12x12
but i need to see if i can find a lighter medium becuase if i do patio stones they will weigh a ton and i dont; want it to damage anythign eles in the boxes

If you go to the paint store there are lots of different kinds of weatherproofing finishes for wood. I'm sure that you could find something that would be appropriate.

I would like to join please, if its not too late. Anyone making swings? My fairies would much rather play than work in the garden. (me too! lol) They leave the work to the gnomes.

Sure! We lost an awful lot of people for this one so I'll add you in. Swings would be wonderful!!

just doublechecking that this is due on April 3 and is still sending 10.
also, I originally envisioned making a free-standing twig swingset sort of contraption but got to thinking about shipping challenges. So I am now considering just making the swings with a decorated hanger sort of thing for whatever branches happen to be handy. Which would folks prefer? And if I do the swingset I'd want to do it in 3 parts--2 sets of legs and the top cross piece so it could ship easier. Would folks mind having to put it together?

when you said a fairy swing i was envisioning a swing to hang from a branch rather than a swingset ... more natural for the fairies, kwim?

I'm doing some fairy size flags, like prayer flags but with different designs on them. I'll have them attached to bamboo skewers on both ends so they can be poked into the ground.

given the number of swaps due in the next week, I'd rather go for just the swings to hang in the branches. But if anybody really wants a swingset I could make a few as special requests.

swings just arent working out as I wanted them to, especially the swing sets. Ive got all the parts cut I just cant get it all to come together in a sturdy fashion.
And I've spent the past week or so in counseling or tears trying to save a relationship that just isn't going to make it. And I'm supposed to go out of town tomorrow for the weekend. Just don't have the energy or mental state to try and figure out a new way. and then I've got 2 swaps due the following weekend....
So, here is my proposal. I'll send all the parts as far along as I've gotten them, along with some wonderful reindeer moss that I'll have access to this weekend. Then perhaps mama's can sort out the best way to make the swings work for their setting. Otherwise, I'll have to drop :(
What does everyone think?

I don't mind getting the parts. I do't have our fairy gardens set up yet anyway so I am not sure how they will work best.

thanks to everyone for the hugs and understanding. Relationship is definitely not going to work out but I feel OK about it now. For the first time I realize that my life is so much more than who I am dating and participating in swaps and such here is a big part of that realization. So thanks for that too!

The ship date on this one was April 3, according to Kris' posts. I didn't realize, I though it was April 30th, so let's go with that for a ship date. Thanks!
If anyone else is dropping, lmk asap.
