For swap 3, I am going to make dragon books for the nature table. They will not be bendy sized but they will still be on a smaller scale. They will have such things as dragon writing, dragon scale samples, dragon dust samples, etc.

For swap 2, I had said I would make bendy damsels, but now I am totally jazzed up for dragon related things, so I am going to change to dragon specimens ... jars of dragon's blood, dragon's scales, dragon's teeth, dragon egg shells samples, dragon's fire ash ...

And just to tempt everyone into letting me into swap #1, lol, I will attempt the marsupial dragons ... but you have to let me in first, :lol:!!

And just as an aside ... we currently have a ton of dragon dust outside our front yard, with a basket full of coins and chicken left over from dinner, because Kenna is trying to lure dragons to our house, after reading some of the Dragonology book this afternoon and last night ;)

I can't measure the dragon because I don't have one myself but Bonnie could. I was going to take the green dragon and tweak the pattern a bit but leave it the same size. Unfortunately I have some of my stuff buried due to the Christmas tree so I can't get to the pattern right now.

I would really really love to make maps for group 2. I will make large kid size maps and mini bendy maps, they will be scrolled up and ancient maps(dyed with walnut ink or tea) and be worn from use. i will highlight the bigger map with 'hot spots' and there will be a story...I have this idea that dragons first appeared as pangea split up, like when the continents broke up and split originally the dragons emerged from deep beneath the earth....and that's how they got to every continent. I would love to see an ice dragon! I saw a really cool picture of an ocean dragon in the Faery magazine....will get the link later....

I finished my dragon poop, claws and shedded egg teeth last night. I want to get the dragon's blood and dragon dust done tonight. But now I need more bottles, lol. I also have the dragon books started for the other group. I am going to personalize them with your childrens' names.

Or maybe they dig down in sand? Scratch the dirt away and make a hole in the ground? Perhaps you need a sand nest.

If you're looking for something bird like to cover, you can go to the craft store, and in the wreath making sections I have seen tiny birds nests (and birds and eggs) that are used to decorate wreaths. You could get some of those and cover them with something else. Then at least you'd have the basic shape.

Here is my prototype dragon. I think its too big to be a baby, maybe the daddy dragon! Its about 12 inches nose to tail and when standing, it is about 7 inches high. I made some changes, the swap ones will be red and black most likely and I added pipe cleaners to the wings. I switched to blanket stitch all over cause my whip stitch looked sloppy. I really like that it can stand up :)

Marsupial dragons and I are not friends ... I have one finished and I just don't like it :( And I am realizing that I am totally dreading workign on finishing this swap because of these dragons. So Kenna and I are brainstorming to see if we can come up with something else for me to make. I am thinking I may make hatching dragon eggs, but I am not committing to anything now, lol. I will settle on something (and who knows, it may end up being the marsupial dragons now that I have lifted the pressue of "having" to do them off of myself, lol) and be able to mail out on Friday still though.


If anyone is at a craft/fabric store this week and sees some scaley looking fabric, if you coul dpick me up just a bit (1/4 yard woul dbe adequate) in any color I will gladly send pp for the fabric and shipping. I wstill can't find it anywhere :(

Got the treasures today Cindy:D

My "dinos with wings", as my children have lovingly called them, will go out on time. I am just so impressed with Andrea's dinos and so were my children. Way cooler than mine!!! Same group but totally different dragons. Very cool to have 2!!! I might post a picture later but I am just not impressed with myself.

I learned a couple of things:

100% wool felt is sooo much nicer than the wool/rayon blend for making small critters. The 100% wool is stiffer, the blend stretches a bit and even tears sometimes. But, I had a big sample bag that I bought from a Waldorf site and need to use it up before ordering more felt. I just love 100%wool felt. It is sooo nice!

I should have a better draft of my pattern and have more than 2 prototypes before tackling. My dog turned dragon with a long tail and wings is cool but not as cool as I had hoped.

Glad you guys will let me use you as guinea pigs for my art!!! :p
