I am really starting to find our groove with learning at home. I am happy with the fact that sometimes LIFE takes up a little more time, but that in itself is a wonderful lesson.

Since we have been so transient for the last 6mo we have done a little bit of structred learning, but mainly unschooling. Now that we are settled and once the holidays are over we will be fully on track. I am starting to get DS used to the routine again. I think I have our "lessons" almost pulled together and wanted opinions from you all as to whether or not I am forgetting something, etc...

Here is what I have come up with:

Basketball 2x Week
Hip-Hop Dance 2x Week
Lowes Children Workshop 1x Month
Piano 1x Week
FIAR everyday with corresponding lesson for the day
Story of the World every day and activity
FIAR Cooking on Fridays
Library/Story hour on Thursdays
Math every day (Is saxon or Singapore the liked curriculum)
Read Aloud and Parent read everyday
Constructive thinking to a thought provoking question each day.


I would like to get a science curriculum so that I know we are tracking plus DS would LOVE to do that too. Also, when do I start written vocab and spelling.

It feels good when things come together.

For spelling and Vocab., we start in 2nd grade. I only do vocab. once a week and short spelling exercises four times a week.
