Truman really doesn't need a thing. We have all the toys he could ever want and I'm sure that his grandparents will have gifts for him to open. I know my mom is getting him bathtoys and a few other things.

I feel like the worst mom, but I'm seriously considering not getting Truman anything for Christmas.

I can't even think of something small just for him to open.

Any ideas?

What are your 1 year olds getting?

Stephanie turned one in October. She is getting some beautiful handmade mocs from mamarina and a silk by silksby joy...she won't "get" that it's Christmas, but she will love those gifts! Oh, and mamarina also knitted her a teddy..which I gave her already because I have no patience!

E is getting a stocking full of baby toys, booties and a blankey doll. I got her this blow up rolling toy that has balls in it...it rolls away and comes back...dunnno it was only $8 and I was desperate! K picked out finger puppets for her.

We did mostly "memory gifts" for Lorelei last Yule when she was under 1, so basically they were all gifts for us and for her to appreciate down the road, or items to start traditions since I knew that it really didn't mean much to her especially as she has no siblings to get ramped up lol. I made or had someone make just about everything she got.
A stocking
Baby's First Yule ornament
Baby's first Christmas outfit
I made us all matching jammies
a special pillowcase (she can't use it obviously, but a Christmas pillowcase every year is a tradition in my family and I still use the ones I've been collecting since I was tiny on pillows throughout December)
a handmade doll (again a family tradition)
a baby book (it took me until Christmas to find one I liked)
handkerchief size playsilks to play peek-a-boo (something she actually liked lol)
DH and I also wrote and illustrated a storybook for her and are making that a yearly tradition as well.

I love the pillowcase idea

My mom makes stockings for everyone in my family but she usually gets them done for the second christmas.

It is hard when you have enough clothes for 3 babies at once to buy anything...

My one year old is getting nothing except what other people have bought her.
She will however, get to open ALL of mom and dad's presents.

May seem mean, but I have yet to have a child that remembered their first X-mas, let alone that they got anything. And it's not like this house is bereft of toys... :)

Molly's getting books, from everybody. I have a feeling a few people will buy her other stuff too, but we asked people to buy her their favorite kid's book and write their name and the year in them, so that later she can see who loved what books enough to give them to her. I have to admit, even with this sensible plan I went a little nuts and bought her some books (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0763623296/qid=1134575528/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-3466631-4909464?n=507846&s=books&v=glance) that she won't be able to appreciate until she's a lot older (like ten! ), but I couldn't help myself.

Noah is getting some playsilks and a couple of other handmade things. For his "big gift" we donated money to Heifer.org and bought chicks.

My dh and I tried to do this last year and this year and we *still* haven't gotten it done. Would you be able to scan in some pages to inspire us? I *love* this idea.

Thanks!
