count me in for 2 slots (2 kids)
i usually donn't limit the tiny things swaps to a set number of people because the items are tiny and usually purchased or easy to make and these are easy to sort afterwards

If there's still space I'd love to be in. The tiny thigs swaps seem to be the only ones I actually can guarantee I'll get stuff finished for lol.

Cool, since it's a tiny things swap I'm sure the more the merrier. What theme should we do?
mom2kbeth
12-09-2005, 09:48 PM
Themes ...
Anything magical is always the most popular it seems - we could do just a general magic/sorcery one
Animals tiny things
Forest/woodlands tiny things
Ocean tiny things
Just plain winter tiny things, the last one was magical winter/winter holidays
Night time tiny things
Celestial tiny things
One that I am biased towards and want to start anyway would be a dollhouse miniature swap, but that's because McKenna is getting a beautiful wooden dollhouse from my mom for Christmas ;)

I love the night time/celestial idea. Just imagining little stars and planets :) Are we still using these for fairie gifts though? (Mine are hanging out in a box waiting for L to grow up to the point that swallowing won't be an issue lol.) Just thinking if that's the case that drifting toward something fairies might leave and hanging close to the seasons and nature is a good idea.

I like nightime/celestial and dollhouse, so either is good with me. We use our tiny things as gifts that the fairies have left. Then they go over to our nature table, some of them, others stay in Duncan's fairy box. We could always do both :D
mom2kbeth
12-10-2005, 11:06 AM
I think we should go with night/celestial, since this is the dark half of the year. It would make sense for our fairies to leave items of that sort at this time of year. And they will be cool little things to dress up a middle of winter nature table too :)
Are you goin gto make this a double tiny things swap, with us sending a set (per child) of night/celestial and a set of dollhouse minis?

I have a few ideas, but am afraid to mention them, as I don't know if I can handle more swaps until these are done..LOL
But I was thinking, Native American, Circus, Pioneer,
mom2kbeth
12-10-2005, 02:06 PM
Pioneer -- that would be awesome! I would love a Little House on the Prairie type swap once these are all finished. We love LHOP and have done LHOP camp and all withour homeschooling gorup. That would be an awesome swap :)
I have a little list sitting here next to the computer of the swaps i want to do once these are over, I am adding pioneer to my list :) I won't post any sign ups until after the holidays though for any new ones. I have a few in mind to be due in March/April.

I still watch LHOP:D That sounds like a really fun swap...

don't we need continual swaps? I think yes!!! I haven't even completed one yet and I am just going crazy over this!!
I think a camp-out one would be good too. Tents, sleeping bags, etc. Love the pioneer, Lil House idea too.
What about American Indians (not just for Thanksgiving around here).
OK, sorry Selena. I know you said to stop it ;)

I am so kidding...LOL. I did get my New Years swap almost finished today and played with some ideas for the Valenties Day one..its coming along..but I think we should wait until after the first of the year to post anymore...
Well....I think I can wait that long...LOL

12-11-2005, 01:08 PM
Oh man guys, I can't keep up with you!!!!!!!!! LOL so what do you think, celestial and dollhouse? or just celestial? or Little House on the Prairie, or or or?????
mom2kbeth
12-11-2005, 01:15 PM
What about keeping this one as just night/celestial, and then doing the next one as a double tiny things swap - dollhouse AND train table (so that we woul dinclude stuff for the boys and the girls; Holden is getting a train table for xmas and will need some cute accessories, lol). Then when we do the Prairie/Pioneer nature table swap we can also set up a pioneer tiny things swap, either to just send with yoru pioneer nature table swap stuff or a separate swap entirely. How does that sound?
But we won't start the dollhouse/train table or the pioneer ones until after the holidays. Just wait to see how many swaps end up getting posted at midnight on 1/1, lol!

I think nighttime/celestial is my vote for this one also!!!

Can someone give some examples of what they may have sent for other tiny things swaps in the past. I have never done one and need some ideas. Have lots floating around, but want to make sure I am on the right track.
Thanks.

For the past tiny things swaps, we have sent tiny items that we have given to our children saying that the fairies left them. For winter,/magical, we had tiny present ornaments, tiny candy canes, clear glass marble snowballs, tiny etched glass with snowflakes, little birds ... for fall/magical we had magical tiny apples (all sparkly), tiny wooden bottles of eye of newt and bat wings (Or something like that!), little fimo pumpkins, beans, marigold seed pods, milkweed seed pods ...

That sounds so cool! Duncan will LOVE that! I think I'm going to make shooting stars (per Selena's suggestion ;) ) I bought some gold fimo today and I'm gonna stick floss in the tail of them. I'll prolly poke a hole through, too, so you guys can string them up if you like. :)

Here are a few of the dreamcatchers
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v440/mom2kbeth/Amity-dreamcatchers.jpg
They are only 1 1/2 - 2 inches in diameter. I think they came out cute!
For the second set of things that I need to send, I have a dark blue fabric with gold stars all over it and want to do something with that. Any ideas? What can I make that would be good for tiny things swap with the fabric?

Love the dreamcatchers!!! I have some celestial fabric and am making little bags and putting moonstones in them with a tiny note about the magic that lies within them. How to keep it brief on a tiny piece of paper is beyond me right now but I will figure it out!!

Here are the stardust bags, I just finished them. Well, the kids just finished them. I made the bags, Holden mixed the stardust (which is now everywhere all over the house!) and Kenna used her new measuring spoons to fill the bags :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v440/mom2kbeth/Amity-stardustbags.jpg
And for those of us in the wizard or the castle swap as well, after the stardust is gone, I thought the bags would be perfect for the bendy wizards to carry things in :)

Oh phooey Rebecca,
I made some felt crescent moons with fimo stars on the tip. They are small ornaments. I had made the stars, originally, for a mobile but just could not make it work like I wanted to. I hope I am not stepping on your toes with my crescent moons. If so, then
Rebecca had the idea first!!!! I am a copycat!!!
